The Aussie depository.....

As in touch with this, as I am, I asked at Dinner at my Sister's place why that hobbling Bowler didn't have a runner between wickets and was told it's not allowed anymore. Really, and now having your bat out of the crease doesn't rate a stumping, really.

FFS they are bowling underarm again, I'm outa here!
 Nah they changed the rules, can't do that anymore!!
The Pommies own Kiwi coach, Baz, has done this at least twice in International cricket and Bairstows tried to do it a couple of times this series - the faux outrage is worth a laugh.......

My cricket knowledge is really out of date but from what I remember the ball must be dead to avoid a stumping. It's a basic rule from when I was a kid, you don't go wandering down the wicket and be out of your crease or you're asking for it or am I wrong?

As an American I can say that this is analogous to a base runner casually stepping off the base and being tagged out. When it happens it is always acknowledged to be the runners brain fart and that he is a dumb ass.

There is even something called the Hidden Ball trick where the opposing player pretends to throw the ball across the field to lure the runner off the base, when he does the ball appears from its hiding place and the runner is tagged out. Everyone laughs and the trickster is congratulated and runner mocked. Nobody gets into a snit and whines and moans. Politicians do not get involved either. It is all considered to be in the spirit of the game and to be good sportsmanship, it is simply strict application of the rules of the game.

100%, but this is LORDS and rioting from those types is pretty Gobsmaking. Being a full-blown Yob doesn't usually happen there. But it isn't the first time it's got to the top end of town. In the 1930s we had a bloke, Don Bradman who still holds batting records. No body has come close. Think Babe Rooth or Weyne Gretsky. He was so good the Poms devised a Bowling Tactic called Body Line or Deliberately aiming at the body so he couldn't do anything but survive. It worked but that caused a hell of a lot of shit. Professionals always look for the edge and sometimes beyond the edge to win.
