I’m being told to vote on an issue that I know nothing about.

I don’t get it.

Last time I voted for a government party, I thought I was voting for a party that represented ‘all’ Australians.

But now, they are pushing for one particular group within our community to have a voice within parliament to give that group a say in how the country is run.

Am I missing something?

You've got it completely wrong Chris. Don't succumb to the bullshit being bandied about on this. It's no big deal for 'us' but a small step for a small minority who've been shafted over a couple of centuries. We ain't Chicken Little and the sky ain't falling.

All Australians were created equal, but some were created more equal than others.
 
There is some pretty ugly propaganda being pedalled about. We are not immune to this BS and made-up crap. So when I say go and peruse some acuate info I get the next bit will be fake news.

In reality, there will still be 151 members of The House Of Representatives and 76 Senators that constitute the parliament, exactly the same as before the Referendum and only they make the laws of the land. This disputed body will have zero power to change the law, only to change the minds of lawmakers. It is definitely not a back door to power, only influence. They used exactly the same tactic of fear and misinformation on The Republic Referendum and sadly it's working in exactly the same way again. So if we are going to debate this let's keep it civil. There are lots of Advisory bodies reporting to the Government, The chief Scientist, The Weather Burro, and The Csiro. That's all it is. But with Constitutional recognition of a bunch of people that weren't even counted as people in the Sencus not that long ago. BTW there is faut in some reteric on the yes side as well. They should know better than to stick to the facts and not abuse.
