The cylinder head shop

Interesting, I wonder how it ended up with that cr head in the ten years before I got it. Its a 180 ,low comp pistons and a12 cams. Getting back to head overhaul Keith’s yer man no matter how long it takes. I stand corrected but I’m sure he said not to put valve seats just diamond Kawasaki valves ?

so, as I understand the head was not originally but later installed to the mirage and a camshaft for a 180 deg engine was fitted too?
Most probably. Heads were cheap in the '80s, possibly cheaper and no doubt quicker than overhauling/repairing the original, for whatever reason. Maybe somebody just thought in would be a good idea...

Pretty much a waste fitting it with A12s on a lo-comp bottom end!

Yes he did a head for me in around 2007. I don't doubt his machining credentials and charming bloke.
However the valve seats fell out, about 3 occasions ( 1 seat at a time) in all.
He had welded the head and in this case it didn't work.
There was no tension around the seats.

In California, leaded fuel was banned in 1975. So none of my triples have ever seen leaded fuel and have never had valve seat problems. They have never even had their heads removed and still all run fine.

I am not saying all motors will run happily on unleaded but in the case of Laverda's, I have not seen a problem.
