What ho Laverda brethren.  Quick question on vibration. FBB goes through a particularly rough patch of vibes between 3500 and 4000 revs. Is this normal? Keep in mind its a heavily tuned engine with lightened crank and the bike weighs sub 200 kilos. Ive never ridden a standard one so have nothing to compare it to.

Yes, that?s where the 180? vibes.
Unlike the 120?, which vibes more as it spins more, the 180? smoothes out.
So just go faster and you?ll be fine.
I used to use that as a reason for, occasionally fracturing a speed limit, when asked by a Police Officer "Why were you driving over the speed limit?".
Most, though sadly not all, appeared to accept my excuse!
Happy Days! When it was a human being, rather than a camera, enforcing the limits.

We all know 180 Laverdas don't vibrate, mine is heavily tuned as well. I can cruise all day comfy at 4k but it does get less pleasant at 4500 and the higher it revs the worse the vibs get. These days I feel it more in my feet and arse, they get numb after a few hours.  The 2 best fixes to improve vib comfort I have found are Foam Grips and an Air Hawk air bladder for the seat or the best fix, a curvy road. It goes away when I am having fun on a great road. Bet this thread gets contensius.

Mine smooths out beautifully at 4200 and stays like that till 8000 when it gets a bit vibe again. Also smooth as you like (for a 180) up to 3500

I find my Sprint does smooth out Hamish, more when warmed right up, low revs left hand gets numb, speed up no problem. Two trips now to Breganze on it,always the same.

That's because it's rubber mounted, Shaun.
If it wasn't, you'd be in all sorts of pain long before you got to Breganze.
According to Piero, they'd tried a 120? crank in one of the prototype triples.
Sent a test-rider off, round the Miglia course, when he came back he had oedema as a consequence of the severe vibration.

I was reading the thread that as given, but yes of course one needs rubbers :D :D :D

As with any Breganzie to keep your fingers from becoming numb - Shorten the handle bars and use thick soft rubber handle bar grips ;o)

My heavily modified 3c the same, 3500-4000 then smooth. Left hand goes to sleep. About to start riding the 3cl 6 plugger seems smoother but have been worrying about other issues to notice vibes yet

Take your handle bar grips off , roll a 4 inch piece of lead around a pencil leaving space , fill gap with clear silicon and tap the lead down the bar ,clean of excess siicon and replace hand bar grips , best vibration insolation ever ,, even on long bars , doesnt eradicate it but makes it acceptable, stops white finger and numb hand , for sure

Or fit weighted ends? I bought a pair of GSX-R 41mm clipons and they came with VERY heavy steel ends attached. I guess filling the bar is more effective though, as it doesn't concentrate the weight on the outer circ of the steering arc and being in the shaft of the handlebar it dampens through it's full length? My solid 38mm Maguras worked very nicely.

There is a product on the market called 'Grip Puppies', high density foam sleeve that slides over your standard grips; work very well apparently.
