This weeks joke

Read may have been involved in many business deals or enterprises , but that doesn`t mean they were successful in the long term ........ he lost probably more than he ever invested , hence one of the last interviews with him took place in the caravan he was living in , at the bottom of a friends garden ........

Back on track ..........

I lost my job as a stage designer ..... i left without making a scene ......

Prison is just one word to you , but for some it`s a whole sentence ....

Dad , are we pyromaniacs ? .... Yes , we are son .......

He couldn’t have been that awful if he had a friend willing to let him park his caravan in their garden. He seems like a plain garden variety asshole coupled with a singleminded desire to never lose. He wasn’t a liar and mass manipulator like Armstrong, nor did he go out of his way to ruin the personal and professional lives of those whom he felt had the ability to expose his cheating. And it all comes down to being a cheat for Armstrong, that is the real difference between him and Read.

Cocaine in Coca Cola until about 1910's ?? beggars beleief read that ony a few months ago. When I worked in Nigeria in the 70's a tribe used as security guards (Maguardi) would all be chewing a cola nut, looked bloody disgusting, never tried it, but they seemed to love it, I often wondered if that was the origin of Coca Cola, the extract from that nut.

Yes.

Peruvians chew Coca tea for altitude sickness - but they seem to just like it at any elevation. It’s a problem on South American mine sites where it doesn’t take much to cause a positive drugs test result. And with most mines having zero tolerance to substances its employment over for the chewer. Another interesting factoid is that bringing in suppliers staff from Holland had to be done such that they had been off the (legal there) pot for long enough for it to clear the system and not produce an entry to site positive result…. And a ticket straight back home.

In a similar vein, many police forces in America are retiring their drug K-9s since they have been trained to detect pot along with other drugs. If a dog alerts on a legal substance and a search is made that detects other contraband the search is illegal since the initial probable cause was invalid. And you cannot erase the training, thus those dogs are useless for police work.

When I was teaching aviation near LAX, they used our buildings to train the Homeland Security dogs. They would hide a parcel and let the dogs sniff it out. I used to joke with the young students that they were going to take the dogs through the student parking lot! After 9/11 a handler told me that they stopped testing them on any drugs and exclusively trained them on the various explosives. Of course they were Homeland Security and not the Drug Enforcement Agency, so not surprising.

The legislation against cocaine was largely a result of tabloid stories, as baseless as most tabloid stories are, concerning "coke crazed black men (another noun was used) raping white women".
Harrison Narcotics Tax Act legislation was adopted by the UK, in DORA, but, fortunately, despite it having been the thin end of the wedge which led, in the US, to Prohibition, drinkers, at least, were spared that stupidity, here.

But black men and women weren't.

Reminds me of that stand up comedian guy in the movie " Goodfellas " ....

" I take my wife to all sorts of different places ..... but she keeps finding her way back home again ... " .....

" She said " Take me to somewhere I`ve never been before " ....... So I took her into the kitchen ..." ......
