TT1 4 Hour Endurance racing

Some of the fastest guys on the track are Dutchmen Martin van Ruitenbeek, Dirk Brand and Henk van der Mark (father of Superbike ace Michael van der Mark).
Coincidentally, or not, they all raced the Van Dijk Laverda so you should find some sympathy there.

Have a good race guys, fingers crossed.

Thanks again guys, we’re ready for warm up. Andy B tidied up some stray wires that had been getting singed by the exhaust, but whether they have had anything to do with the popping and banging is debatable.
Dropped a tooth off the rear sprocket to get a bit more drive out of the slower corners and also may actually get close to topping out on Mistral straight before the chicane.

Gearing much better and I hit peak revs in top by braking point for chicane, and also better in other corners but still a misfire, so much so Andy B came in after one lap saying it was too dangerous to carry on for another lap. At least he has now experienced what I have been so has a better understanding of the issue.
I also reiterated that the Rev counter needle kept oscillating, which Rob suggested was the ignition system resetting. Rob and Andy now checking all wiring and may include rewiring the ignition switch.
Also going to check ignition rotor settings etc.

We shared a garage with the guys at Donington a few years ago and we got on great.

Damn, that misfire is going to really dull any chance of staying out there, Andy. Thought with you in trying to source the fault.

Going one down on the rear sprocket (so taller) ... that means you were revving out before the chicane previously? And more drive out of slower corners - is that a benefit of a taller gear? Less spin and slide under power?

Putting on leathers in 29C temperatures... glad it's not me 😁

Sorry... taken at lunchtime prior to warm up... for start at 2000hrs! Didn't get uploaded for some reason.

Pleasant afternoon checking wiring connections, terminations, cleaning switch contacts etc. Swapped ignition trigger board just because we could. Magnets in alignment... thanks Red and Maurice for suggesting. Need to resolve the intermittent misfire so that AJ and AB are safe out on circuit. Closing speed of some of the rocketships out there positively scary with misfiring machine. No opportunity to verify if the issue is still present prior to the race, although AJ has negotiated with organisers to see if any possibility of joining public parade session... all fully subscribed.PXL_20220611_101456328.jpgPXL_20220611_101456328.jpg

well done guys, great team effort
bet you are both a bit sore now though, tough job doing 4 hours of racing

Bloody hell….. if shit is going to happen, it’s going to happen at the most in opportune time. Think rain for weeks, a sunny day, fire up the mower ….., and run out of fuel with no reserves in the shed.
