My pannier bags broke on the snowy, looking for a decent replacement.

Have a look at Andy Strap, not attractive but very practical. This shop is at Dural, Klim agent so bring your wallet. Just make sure they have a sealable inner bag, in my experience nothing is waterproof without that.

I bought this set from ebay ....... got it for $325. Less than half price and they are awesome. Takes a bit to sort out first time but once it is on it holds a ton of stuff and has waterproof inner bags as well so dry as can be. The dry bag goes on top and I use it for stuff that you want easy access to ..... the rest goes in the saddlebags but fairly easy access to most of it as well.

Maybe a lot more than what you need and I doubt you will find the same deal.

Had a look at the stuff you recommended Vince, nothing under $800, wtf! Why so expensive? I will order the $180 stuff from Victoria, what have I got to loose, my old pannier bags where freebies being chucked out.

That shop at Dural do Klim, its probably great gear but crazy expensive. I think they specialise in the cashed-up retirement market. So you going Andy Strap?

There seems to be a general decline in standards, my dual-level tank bag burst a zipper a couple of years back and it couldn't be repaired so I went looking at what I hoped would be similar in Magnet Dual high tank bags. I was disappointed, there were hardly any dual ones around and even singles were not much chop. Just to show how dumb they are the one I eventually bought turned out to have its waterproof cover so big it takes up a whole side porch, why not just make the bag waterproof and the front magnets end up directly over my alloy tank badges so don't stick well. My old bag had 5 magnets, the new one has 3. Anything to reduce quality has been done. And it cost way more to boot.

I looked at as many as I could and that was the best I could find, Cosi named the one I bought and I wasn't that impressed. The 10-year-old Oxford with the broker zip was way better

Surely it's not impossible to replace a zip. Maybe you need to try another repairer.
I hate it when someone tells me that something can't be repaired. I sometimes end up repairing it myself just to prove them wrong.

The place I tried is excellent, she does Leather Gotex camping gear you name it. The issue was where the zip was, it had hard material on the top, it looked like they fitted the zip and layered its construction a few steps later. It was impressively strong, that's why it was so good, lasted 10 years of constant hard use. I still use the lower section for day rides. This is the repair place.

The Oxford saddle bags I use I bought second hand off the Blackbird Honda Forum, $120 I think. There Ok with waterproof inner bags. Got a good test this year on the wet Snowy trip. I use one of Andy Straps 50mm elastic straps around them, everything needs some modification.
