Jesus H Christ!
Okay, I wasn't in Oodnadatta yesterday, glad I wasn't!
Just for you, yesterday was a mild 24 degrees, sunny day in Cudlee Creek.
(sometimes I wonder why I bother)
Officially 44c in Birdsville today too, (but probably hotter) and I don't think I'll bother ducking out there anytime soon eitherJesus H Christ!

Yeah, nothing like a 'Big Sky Ride', afraid my long distance rides are done and dusted but bloody glad I did the rides to Belligen for the rally and Brisbane for the concours(e) twice. Best one was the Nullabour, but never in summer.I suppose an outback road trip is one of the many things I should do before I kick the bucket,
I think the same people talk about ’it’s a dry cold’ too! When your fingers and toes drop off you feel so much better knowing that.People used to say, but it's a dry heat so it's fine. Yer sure.
They announced a Polar Vortex, never heard of that before,
Yep, every time it rains now it is an "event" and if it is expected to be heavy it is a rain "bomb"The new weather words.
Polar Vortex used to be cold airmass over the north pole.
Atmospheric River used to be wet weather affectionately called the Pineapple Express because the airmass originated in the region of Hawaii.
Heat Dome used to be called a heatwave.
Just add "Epic" and "Unprecedented" and you can turn any weather event into an unmitigated disaster!

I only did the Nullarbor once in the mid 1980s on my well used and abused Kawasaki Z1B (that thing just kept going, never let me down). It was in summer and I was expecting hot desert conditions, but it was cold and windy with pissing rain most of the way. My yellow industrial waterproof gear wasn't really up to 1000km of driving rain. I got soaked and frozen. I had a girlfriend on the pillion seat but my bulk in front of her sheltered her from the worst of the weather. We were travelling east to west, and a mate in Tassie had given us the address of his brother who was working in a mine in Norseman (the end of the Nullarbor crossing). Being cold and wet and bedraggled, we dropped in to dry out, warm up and hopefully spend the night without having to camp in the rain.Best one was the Nullabour, but never in summer.
You reminded me of a truck driver friend that sent me this text about coming across one of his workmates pulled up on the side of a road:I only did the Nullarbor once in the mid 1980s on my well used and abused Kawasaki Z1B (that thing just kept going, never let me down). I'd never met my mate's brother and his wife before. They were kind people who offered us a hot meal and a bed for the night, but they were super religious. My mate forgot to warn us about that, so I probably offended them with a few blasphemous profanities before I realised. I was OK with holding hands around the table and saying grace before tucking into a nice home-cooked meal. But spending the rest of the evening "enjoying" bible reading and associated discussion was a bit tedious. I suspect they formed the opinion that we were bound for hell. We left the next morning with them both saying prayers for our safe trip and that we would find Jesus somewhere along the way (we never did). It was an unusual encounter for a couple of devout atheists, but we were thankful for their hospitality.
Bugger me, I didn’t know Jesus was a spoil sport!Jesus watches and reads you know![]()
