Weather where you are?

My suburb got 80mm today and another 100 forecasts for tomorrow. Dryish for Sunday's ride, if the roads are open and I can swim out of my yard.

Avalon got zero rain till now Vince, could see the massive darkness to the South but dry as here. 🙂

Heading to Adelaide on Sunday, I don’t want too much rain. My new girlfriend is Aussie Matilda the truck Garmin sat nav girl...... she’s incredible.
Road reports, weather, truck stops, restaurants and more. I reckon she’d be cute in the flesh, but chances are she’s not.

Clear skies overnight so it is a bit chilly this morning (about -8 earlier). Supposed to get up to +10 tomorrow. Checked the ice on the lake and still about 18-20 inches but hoping to see it gone by the end of April.

On another note ....... anyone interested in a small hydraulic powered dump trailer? Great for landscaping jobs!

Jim

Come join us for the ride weekend in late May in Wolfgang country!

Nakusp ride
Well, Jim if it was going to be mid-June I could easily pull off the 160 miles from where I spend the summer (Hayden, near Couer d Alene Idaho), unfortunately, in May I am still down south. Trust me I have been checking the dates and routes, which would be most suitable for a Laverda, there are several options from Palm Desert Ca to Nelson BC all of which are 1500-1600 miles or more, one way.

Not entirely off of my calendar, I did a similar ride about 30 years ago, also taking in Vancouver Island and then coming back mostly via the Pacific coast, time flies. Back then I had the wife driving a van( which we camped in) with a bike trailer (a great way to travel), saved the Jota for all the good roads putting about 1600 miles on it, the rest on the trailer. Not sure... 🤞

Spring blizzard hit the Canadian Prairies this week. Shutdown highways, schools, airports etc. for a couple of days. Pushed back start of the motorcycle season as the snow relects the sun keeping temps cooler. Only good news is a last ride on the snowmobile. The snow drift behind the sleds is about 4 meters or 12 feet high and runs for a couple hundred meters/yards.

Good question....the skis have carbide runners to hold the skis from slipping on ice in the corners...they will actually cut into a concrete floor. The tracks may or may not have carbide picks...which will chew up concrete or wood floor. So most common solution is to use small dollies under the skis and track inside the garage. Or use a large wheeler that kind of looks like a small engine crane that picks the whole sled up. I just put mine on an enclosed trailer where they are stored off season. As with motorcycles, snowmobile riding needs all sorts of riding gear, trailers, need to replace some parts of the running gear due to wear. The joys of living in a place with four distinct seasons.....
