We traded the grey skies of Vietnam for this:
IMG_0440.jpegThe view from our bungalow restaurant on Koh Phayam just south of Myanmar. It is going to get up to 31c today with a low of 25c. We arrived a couple of hours ago and are here for two months.

Cyclone Koji bought us a wet and windy night here, couple of hundred mls of rain and gale force winds. Luckily only a cat1 so not really destructive winds - more a low pressure system bringing a lot of rain (winds gusting to around 100kph).
Quite calm for couple of hours this morning but gale force winds and rain have started again. Crossed just south of Ayr with most weather to the south of the system. Will cut plenty of roads but it is our wet season:rolleyes:
Still have power which is unusual when a whirly bird comes in but as it gets wetter, trees will fall easier and take out power lines so here's hoping.
Hamilton Plains council Cam - no trip to Airlie today......

Life’s a backyard beach!

Yesterday morning we had to contend with black ice from one end of the island to the other, with multiple crashes, because of course the highways dept hadn’t bothered to grit the roads - even though they were forewarned of the expected conditions. However, I did see a gritting lorry out at midday, by which time it was plus 5-6 degrees and most of the ice had thawed.🤷
This morning we’re back to overcast skies, gale force winds and rain - and cancelled ferries (again). 🙁
