Well Off Topic

I have an issue with my HTC phone charger cable. I use it on the bike as a GPS and the charger cable is as loose as a goose. The mini or micro-mini or whatever it is only going in halfway and then stops. So I googled fixes and the first one suggested the port on the phone has a tendency to fill up with pocket lint and crap and you should give it a good poking with a paper clip. Mmm. that bought back childhood memories about Toasters and breadknives, not deadly on a phone but maybe you could short out the battery or chip. The next suggestion was a wooden toothpick, and that sounds better.
So what's the consensus out there, paper clip or toothpick or something else that won't kill the phone.

Hair Spray, closer look. Air Spray, better. I did a pock around with a toothpick and got a tiny amount of fluff out but nothing like I hoped to allow the plug to go deeper. Stupid design and it's just a weak connection.

Alls I know is I should be able to virtually lift the phone by the charging cord, but just a bump has it falling out. One of the vids shows squeezing the male plug gently sideway MIGHT tighten it a bit. The metal part of the plug is 5mm long but only 3 mm goes in. Not hung well enough again. It's as weak as piss even when new.

I have had similar problems with micro USB, I managed to solve it with a new cable. Perhaps the connector has been damaged in some way?

Probably why the industry is going over to 'Type C' connectors, which look more robust and can't go in the wrong way.

Seems to happen on most smartphones used as GPS on our bikes.
Vibrations destroy the connexion in the phones.

USB C plugs last better.

How "well off" is this topic? I'm a bit skint and I could use a little extra cash.

Start a sect. People are very gullible so you'll soon have adepts.
Then you obtain money and sex from them.
A good job.
