What did you do to or for or with your Laverda today?

Just got back from taking the kids and their friends camping for 3 days. Not directly laverda related I know but now I have enough brownie points to do the bellingen and moto gp 2 weeks away later this month woohoo :-)

Took a recently acquired Mirage TS for a run.  Mainly to find & fix gremlins on the bike, which was a long stander, but also to enjoy some fair weather, after a long wet winter.      Already sorted a number of issues. The latest to come to light is a slipping clutch, which shows up under power in higher gears.  Suspect that the slave cylinder O-ring needs changing.    Plan to replace the 630 chain & sprockets with a 530 kit at the same time.  Thereafter, a Sachse ignition in place of the BTZ set up.  Also considering fitment of a late Jota fairing.

Lets see now. Long weekend here in WA celebrating the Pommy Queens birthday. Wonder for 1 sec what day it really falls on then realise I really don't give a ...

Saturday, better half delivered to the airport, Le Mans ridden over to Thunderbikes for a full go thru (can't wait to get my shed built so I can do it all at home), son rolled up to watch the AFL grand final so many beers and several c'mon Bloods later and the day was done.

Sunday, up with the sparras, fencing gear out and trellis constructed for raspberries and blueberries. Plant out canes of aforementioned berries and water in. Between that and picking up gear at Bunnings the stuffed left knee and the rest of me was afixamatated and it was time to get pituted while watching the rugby game I had recorded the night before. Shouldn't have come to the forum first as some sod in a totally unrelated thread gave the result ( yes you Henry you wanker). So no rugby, just drink and watch other BS.

Monday brought food shopping - for the dawg mainly, then put together the high pressure cleaner I bought off Ebay and spend the afternoon cleaning the super slippery moss off the brick paved driveway. Now stuffed and ready to get pituded again - first Corona didn't even touch the sides.

Oh and somewhere in there I figured out how to get the stanchion retaining bolt undone on the ceriani forks without fucking anything. One smart smack with a steel drift and heidi ho undid sweet as with the power wrench. Whooda thunk. Dustcovers off, seals out and now ready for polishing, addition of racetech emulators asI ca no longer afford a Maxton cartridge conversion, new seals, new dust covers and the rebuild gets serious as then next move is swingarm and centrestand onto the frame and engine in. So yes, some Laverda action though not as much as I would like.

Spotted that Red has the valves in the wrong holes!

Good job we check his work for him or he'd be Fucked   :P

Sunday morning had a great breakfast ride on the Corsa. Fall in the air, thousands of Canada geese migrating, last of the crops being harvested, and one dead snake on  the road. About an hour and half from me are the world famous Narcisse garter snake pits where thousands of snakes migrate to for the winter. One squished snake didn't affect my appetite for breakfast one bit.

Great thread!!!
This weekend... Got to take a flame thrower to Wilfie's head so Red could do the valve guides...Polishing side covers, hammering nails, polishing side covers, laying bricks (Cosi laying while I supervised and got beers), polishing, chopping wood and hammering nails again, cleaned up starter motor, polishing is getting pretty shit boring now.
Great long weekend!!!

Time to get out of the shed the 76' 750 GTL.

Having owned it for 25 years and let it sit in the shed for the last 15. I figured it was time to get it out.

Had a false start Tuesday night, coughing and farting, decided to leave it until Saturday, TLW.

Up early saturday and checked the timing (little misunderstanding on my behalf, which explained tuesday nights effort). Hit the button and BINGO.

Fired first crack. Ye Ha.

Helmet on and up the road we go.Nothing like a rush of blood. Opp's long weekend, no anything and double demerits!

Never less nothing had changed, brakes don't work and sounds fucken beautiful. :D

Now for some carb fun and rego.

Have attached couple of pic of when I bought it in and how it looks today.

Steve

Like to thanks all the people on this forum for there help.

Nice bike.
Kuwaiti police model with alternator. Must have been new when you bought it as long as the sand that sanded the paintwork and seat didn't find it's way into the engine.
Ciao

Moved the the Suzuki motored SF yesterday, so I could get the ZXR7 out and take it for a last blast and wash before putting it up for sale. This could be something I regret, but that's part of the "fun funds" for the SF/Spine frame track bike. Came back and changed undies, prior to the wash.

Buttoned up the electronic ignition, strobed it and with the covers back on went for a test ride. Had a smile a mile wide :D and even wider when I got home with no contact with the disco light boys or girls. Its running like a dream.

Went to Cadwell Park meeting all weekend to see 4 Laverdas racing in the Bears championship.  :D :D :D
Met many many Laverdistas for the first time and of course Piero Laverda. Had a 5 lap parade of Cadwell Park on both Saturday and Sunday. It was a shame I didn't see any Zanes there - wonder why?

Set off very early Saturday and got home knackered at midday on Monday.

Over the weekend the Corsa covered 805 km (503 miles) in all.Total fuel usage was 78.32 litres (17.2 gallons). This equates to 10.3 km/litre or 29.2 miles per gallon.  :o

Not good, but there again we did cruise at 90 to 100 miles per hour on the autobahns ( ??? ), did 10 laps of Cadwell Park and really enjoyed those great Lincolnshire roads to the full so it was to be expected that fuel economy would be low. The bike was carrying maybe 110kg which didn't help too much.

Apart from the small shower just before the Bears race on Sunday, the weekend weather was brilliant although the wingers  :-* will say it was cold at night. I was tucked up as snug as a bug in Bunty's B & B  :D. No camping for me. I managed to get lost within the castle walls of York on Sunday night in the middle of a heavy rain shower. I couldn't see a damned thing, but I really don't believe there were too many signs there anyway.

The Corsa ran like a dream all weekend and again I was amazed at how the RGS fairing keeps the wind and rain off. On the last 15 miles of autobahn to home some twit in a souped up Renault tried to tailgate me so I opened her up to get away. The bike was rock steady at high speed despite the cross wind but I didn't catch the final top speed (eyes closed in fear maybe?). What does 7500 revs in top equate to on a standard geared Corsa anyone?

I'm thoroughly looking forward to next years BEARS championship. Well done to all the racers. What a sight to see Laverdas winning again. :D

Cheers

DoC!

Phoned Uwe about my futzed DMC about half a dozen times. He's a busy man - feel awful bothering him but I've not managed to get through yet...

Not much of anything...looked at them though which is always nice!

The Spondon is still waiting for a new lower clamp and the others are all just sitting and wishing I could ride them. Damn shoulder...oh well, next year!!

(actually hopefully later this month when I head down to Texas to hang with Scott for a while. The shoulder is slowly improving!)

Sanded/shaped the foam tank mould for my spine frame, this is one laborious job. Only done the top and the rear 70% and now realise that the shape is wrong. But that's good, because it's not deep enough, not the other way around, so, more sanding to do.....tomorrow! Then the front half, then the fuel chamber, which will only be at the rear of the tank, the front will just be a shell.
