What's the FASTEST Motorcycle you have ever Mounted ?

Julian and Clem did try to help me on this topic but it appears I FAILED - Thanks Guy's & Gals

It is a topic which no Motorcyclist can describe - But I tried.

Wish ALL Laverda Forum Members the Best in the New Year and stay Safe so I can Tax you again ;o)

Not only in the early 80's did the Japs best the Italian 3 Cly Breganzie engine with the Suzuki 4 Cyl but they also stole the frame.

AKA: The Suzuki GSX-R1100. Good By Laverda ;o(

No denying the 73 Breganzie Jota 3Cyl is, with out a doubt, the 1st Super Bike.

I'm just weeding through a confused 73 year old mind whom loves Motorcycles and mounted them for over 50 years and still alive to say so.

oh it is just all about misunderstanding....and that damn autocorrection , it must be:

Cheers

v2ventiler: Another Puppie, to let you know, I've haven't toked up since mid 70's but highly suggest Scotch which is very expensive in Canada right now  ;o(

An Old Motorcyclists who is still alive has lots to teach - Get that through your head Puppy.

Merry X-Mas and a Happy New Year. Stay Safe.

By the way 170 mph as you say with a 86 Suzuki GSW-R1100 - Fastest I have ever did on 2 wheels - I do believe you have to do more research regarding Suzuki models - I really don't give a shit !  The Suzuki was a 11000 rpm 4 Cyl Breganzie from what I recall - Did you live through that era ?

The Question is "How Fast have "YOU" been on 2 Wheels"

I've rode and owned quite a few 160-170 mph bike over the years, I only had one daft moment, opening one up to 160 on the speedo,  far to fast for any road on the uk. Most of my riding is within the limits nowadays.
I recently bought a ktm 890r, as a toy of course. I'd highly recommended one to anyone. There are reports of the 890 being a 145 mph bike, not that I'll ever find out.
But it begs to go around bends faster than I'd ever go.

You really don't want to drop a chain on a Still 38 Bushmaster either.

Suzuki built one whooper of a bike in the mid 80's; however, you can NOT rebuild her like a Breganzie Triple on your Wife's Kitchen table - Just saying make sure she's away visiting relatives or file for divorce.

All Jap Engines are built of Saw Dust and you stand less then 20% chance of rebuilding them.

This is a useless conversation.

Thanks Phil but just let me ramble a little further ;o)

Look at the 73/84 1000cc 7800rpm 3 Cyl Breganzie Vs the 84/86 1100cc 1100rpm Suzuki 4 Cyl Kantana - They are about identical except for the shifter being on the left Vs right - I prefer the shifter on the right but for 1/2 the cost is a no brainier to buy. Down went the Breganzie Factory.

Keep your Breganzie Strong and keep Riding as long as you can - Merry X-Mas and Happy New Year ;o)

Top marks for irony Ron - Merry Christmas - Phil
Merry christmas Ron, may you survive 2021 and many more. Keep us entertained :-)
People who don't understand racing often ask me (and surely others here who race) how fast our bikes go, as that is the whole point of racing isn't it. One minute sixteen point four I say.

Funny you should say it was a GSXR 1100 Ron, I rode my mates new one back in 1986 and I remember thinking how easy it all was and that you had to be going stupid fast to get the same sensation of speed as I got on my Laverda 1000. Anyway Happy Christmas you grumpy old pisshead  :D

pf1: Never mounted a 3 Cly Beganzie but guarantee you will likely loose to a 70 SF0 or a 84 Kantana with a seasoned rider on board - PISSHEAD

I met a young Chinese Girl racing stop lights in Toronto Canada riding a 650 Kantana - As a Leprechaun on a 70 SF0, I did not score. Although I followed to her door. She lost every bike in the city except me. Never letting her know my SFO could take her plus any bikes on the streets of Toronto that night.

Racing Toronto Streets that night, I could see the topic rider was a Girl on a Kantana 650 and she was relentless.

Shit! I had to ride 400 miles just to get to Toronto and another 400 miles to get back home before noon to Race Toronto Streets on the week end.

Gotta love the 70 750 SF0 Breganzie - 800 miles for one night of street racing in Toronto - YES !

I did win a few races light to light in 1st gear but if that light is Green - Catch me if you can.
After that it was a Joke as there was NO Competition ;o)

Sacrificed a lot of rubber on Toronto streets in the 70's.

If I was Eurasian (Helmets off) I may have scored as she was the most beautiful creature I've ever seen.

Studying the Profile of a Winner.

That's Racing!

"Grumpy old pisshead"  Yes, I resemble that too, lol.

Like Ron, the quickest bike I ever rode was a GSXR1100. But with all the bells and whistles, big carbs, big cams - and on Methanol. I'd co- built it with the business partner. It'd tossed him and a very good local rider down the road but I was determined to have a ride despite his doubts. Impressive. Spun the 180 Michelin slick anywhere above 7000 rpm. Stopped well and steered better than I'd expected too.
We  never dyno'd it but it ran 194mph in a local flying 1/4mile event - with only 1.3Km run-in. Laid rubber into the traps too.

I did ride the 1200 triple I built for Peter P locally. Big cams, the good pistons and crank from Red. Yes, impressive, a torquer with a very flat torque curve and an amazing desire for revs. Yes Red very smooth at that balance factor. The cams I had done locally put in on 105/105 work bloody well too.
Now if only we raced here on bigger circuits. Peter prefers his Manx for the short tracks here.

But more interesting are the bikes I didn't ride. I've done a lot of speedway sidecar engines over yea these many years... Many have offered me rides on the finished article. F NO. I'm not mad. I just say to them "Les Dwight Snr offered me a ride on his Vincent Black Shadow outfit in 1972 and I declined - I'm not going backwards by starting now"

Fasrest I ever went was on bikes without a speedometer ....... so the best I can say is approximately 145 mph on a Ducati 900 racebike and approximately 160 mph on a Moto Guzzi racebike.

Fastest in a helicopter (not factoring in wind speed) was VNE plus 10% in a Bell 214B doing test flights. That is 154 knots or 177 mph.

Jim

Good point, Jim!
Mach .92 (685 MPH), briefly, in an X.

God Dam Jim you are Slow - You have catch up and live up to Laverda Forums specifications - Merry X-Mass an Best in the New Year - Stay Safe  ;o)

Just a sec I gotta ramble on: HIC ! - Opp's - That don't count - Excuse me ;o)

OK here it Goes:

I did become rather notable when a Cop stop me dialing me in at 120 Mph under radar with my SFO.

1st thing I said "You saw Me - Gotta work on that, I should be stealth"

Your sure 120 mph and not 125 mph ?

Just a second as I showed him a screwdriver and asked the Cop: "Can you clock me again, that's if you can see me ?"

This is a bit of a pointless thread, but OK, I'll join in.

Fastest bike: MV Agusta FV 1000. Fast but very capable and easy to ride.
Scariest bike: 1969 Kawasaki Mach III. Fucking insane machine.
Slowest bike (also worst handling bike): 50cc Lambretta scooter. Dunno what year or model, it wasn't mine. Bloody awful thing.
Most idiotic bike: A friend's Honda CB350 chopper with stupidly long and bendy forks (way back when we were in high school).
Favourite bike: Hmm, dunno. They all have their good points.

Scariest bike: 1969 Kawasaki Mach III. Fucking insane machine - Agree, After that consider yourself lucky your still here to greet Covid in 2021 ;o)
