What's your opinion of this Jota ?

Probably my favourite Jota and the first I recall hearing and then seeing it come around a bend. That memory is firmly imprinted in my mind from the early 80's. front mudguard looks wrong for year and down pipes iirc should be more flowing. Still very nice. Currently repairing one of those fairings.

Looks in good condition - I would want to know about any invoices for work on the engine - it’s too dear ( 2-3 k in my opinion then I have a good series 2 )but look it’s a dealer so there’s a deal to have - I would want to hear the engine tickover start and stop - I was told always but the best one you find and if it’s a bit more you might have to fork out . You are buying this to ride not as an investment - we all like a bargain but sometimes your heart rules your head 7 years on I don’t regret paying a little more - check out the serial number - look on Laverdamania to see if it’s on there - previous owner would be a good find

Very expensive. When approaching that kinda dosh, I would want to see a bucket load of receipts for significant mechanical work, to go with the externally obvious application of paint, powder and polish. It should also be specification-perfect - bog standard - in areas it isn't.

Hi Chef,
I like the look of it however I am biased in owning a similar machine and I’ve always had a soft spot for that particular fairing style.
Price wise it may be a little overpriced but everyone has a comfort zone in what they want or are willing to pay and only you can make your mind up on that ,sometimes the pleasure of owning something special is worth paying that little bit extra ,however
you do need to do your research and check out all the details and certainly see it in the flesh.
For a newly fully restored bike you would expect it to be in tip top condition but there are a few discrepancies ie, the clocks (unrestored) , tank badge chipped, partial new fuel hoses? , front mudguard wrong ( though I like it ) rear shocks (pattern) primary chain adjuster with 2 lock nuts? down pipes stainless pattern but easily changed for better Chrome items....so certainly a few points to question but also to use as a bargaining tool should you so wish.....
More importantly is to check the history of the bike and the serial numbers and any maintenance history you can find out about in detail.
I wouldn’t say these bikes are hard to maintain but you do need to know what you are doing and new paint and polish can hide a multitude of sins, but that applies to any second hand vehicle you buy not just Laverda’s
Good luck with your journey, there is a mounting of information and advice on here so go check it out and ask away.👍

Despite what people wish, the prices do not seem to be dropping.
Value is always in the eye of the buyer, if you like it and want it and can afford it, buy it. Simple.
Then if it's lovely then don't give the price a second thought. It's only expensive if it does not fulfill your needs and wishes.
So make sure it's a good one and a genuine Jota. Good luck,

Julian

Wrong clocks they shouldn't have Laverda logos for a 1980 Jota they are off an earlier bike. Incorrect number plate mounting and the side panels should have the metal JOTA badges not a sticker or painted on. Just my tuppence worth.
Alan.

One can only wish for prices to go down to encourage buyers who are going to use the motorcycles, come rain, come shine.
Prices may not be dropping, but the volume of sales appears to do so in view of the number of machines for sale, a long time. And it's a trend here to stay as the number of machines for sale is destined to increase, and the number of buyers to decrease.

What's wrong with it? My buddy, who's on the forum too, has the same mudguard on
the exact identical model (80).
is it a metal one painted?.....it’s just that it looks different to the fibreglass one fitted as standard to the 80’s model?......which have more of a sweeping radius from the front and rear as they join the mounting ,this one looks more streamlined and I like the look of it 👍

Shit pic but I guess this is the definitive version.

Rob - R u sure about the pin stripe weight and spacing? That was meant to be humour. But on a more serious question was the fairing optional?
