What's your opinion of this Jota ?

I like those fairings, I know there not popular but hey, its just taste...
Its a shame they didnt spend a little bit more time on the design because they could have been stunning, the indicators for example look like they're on steroids.
 
Guys I’ve had my 80 Jota from new and can vouch for the photo that Rob posted. They didn’t last long, mine cracked and the pinstripe tape peeled off about a year after buying it😂😂 I saws in Slater’s in 2009 as part of a trip with Maurice and Richard had an original 80 jota( his own) that had the short grabrail, no fairing and the big stainless front guard. He told me then that you could purchase them sans fairing and most people preferred the larger guard. Photo of mine attached in its now slightly modified form😂😂

I think he just meant he used the photos on the eBay listing to comment on the condition of the clocks as they are not visible on the original posting on this site. Not that he put any comment on ebay. Mind you I could be wrong.

Had a 1980 one that looked the same.
Fabulous looking bike... but ...
I would in other places.
As king kieth if he knows of one for sale. One he has done work on.
Personally there are only 2 , possibly 3, people in the uk I would let work on my engine.
A dealer can sit on a bike for sale for a long time... look on ebay.
There are a few off us who have spent over that price working on their bikes that you will sell far cheeper.

Why do you think that there are so many dealers, who are just that, surfing on the fashion of old vehicles and particularly some models, deemed by the gullible to be desirable?

I'm a great believer in the wisdom of popular sayings " all that glitters is not gold ".
And yet, people still fall for it.

But of course, since most of the machines aren't ridden, it's not about to end. Until the banning of petrol engined vehicles of course.

buy it if you like it and have confidence of the internals, you can have it any way you want, your choice of anything as its your bike, why does it have to be pin point perfect when the factory where not? and Slaters even less so, king and queen seat anybody (yes I have seen that).
its too expensive at today market rates by about 3+K

Someone should fix those wonky rear pegs and indicator, fit some bar ends. Before, or after, slacking off the drive chain a tad.

With you on that, Chris, the best view is a naked Jota. Naked, they look hunched down like a charging rhino, with the engine as the focus. The fairing removes focus from the engine, which IMHO is the whole reason anyone should want a 1000 triple

I would look very closely for previous front end damage inc. frame alignment. In addition to the many parts pointed out by forum members as being non-original (clocks, down pipes, front mudguard, what looks like a full respray) I add also that I owned this exact model for 20+ yrs and found the headlight to be a very snug fit to the fairing - you can see daylight on this one when looking from the inside out?
I appreciate bikes of this age are unlikely to be fully std. but for me there are just too many things not quite right and at this price it would (for me) require very close scrutiny (along with all the historical maintenance receipts as also suggested) before getting serious about any purchase. Just my views of course....
