I've been reading all the info that's been discussed  about Witt ignitions, it seems going all the way back to 2017 when folk seemed to fit them and had a lot of issues , then after 2017 all the folk that fitted Witt dropped them like a hot stone and started to use Ignitec. I've been given a DMC2 for my GTL 750 . Am I wasting my time with this kit? Even the folk that specialise in Laverdas have gone to Ignitec , is this a hint that Ignitec are a superior item for the job?  After some advice , or throw it in the bin and stick with the points after all . Cheers and is there any fitting instructions that are in English , since Witt have been about since the late 80s ,

I had a couple of RGSs fitted with Witt ignition and they seemed to run okay and I didn?t have any issues while I owned them. I think some of the recent Sachse systems have been more troublesome.
However, Ignitec does seem to be the system of choice now.
Perhaps someone with greater knowledge of these things will explain why.

I fitted a Witt DMC2 to my RGS 20 years ago and have done a few miles in the meantime.
It has performed faultlessly in that time - definitely a case of 'fit and forget' - until the trip to Breganze last year, when an intermittent misfire became progressively worse....
A replacement optical eye didn't sort it and I eventually traced it back to a broken wire in the sub-loom (the plug and associated wiring that connect to the box of tricks). ?30 for a new sub-loom and it's back to normal.

Certainly a fault that I could have done without, but that's still far from 'shit' in my book (or anywhere else!) ;)

I have fitted several Witt, Sachse and Ignitec systems.
None have given issues in the several years since they were fitted.
I have run a Sachse on my own bike for around 10 years now.

and you can talk to the excellent English speaker that is Uwe (Witt) about your proposals. pronunciation is ooovay if I am correct.

Just fitted an updated DMC32 system to my GTL.  Now runs sequential sparks for a more reliable idle, but needs 2 coils against the single double coil I ran since 1994.  Personally, I wouldn't bother with anything else... guess I'm a bit biased though, I was involved in the development and production from 1991 to 1998.

ANY modern digital ignition is better than the worn out points mechanism.

Sacrilege, Piet!!! Didn't you read Paul's post in this thread??!!  :D . They don't wear out - they just grow old (a bit like parrots, they don't die, they just fall asleep).

Sell it.
Plenty of people doing 2 or 300 km a year on their 750 and scared of using the thing, looking for a reliable ignition.

Dear Mr Uncouth of Mancunianchester - check the unit - you say it was destined for a GT750 - this is a total other layer of confusion -  you may have incorrect advance curves programmed into it. The label on it will tell you what it was made for.
