Circumnavigation of Oz take 2

Am liking these updates and find myself following along with goggle maps using the street view on occasion to get a better sense of the terrain and scenery. Can't seem to locate gieci gorge though...

Bad head wind, went onto reserve at 239, pulled over to top up at 253, made it with 2.5 litres into both bikes. Pulled at at the campsite early before it got too hot. Bit of maintenance this Arvo before gieci gorge in the morning, then Derby
How's the SF compare for fuel Marty? I travelled Darwin-Perth on my SF1 (with very worn bores) in '75 when all dust and corrugations and no spare fuel carried. Can't remember the distances.

I feel for any of you poor buggers who live in flood prone areas. I suppose it would be tempting to move to higher ground, but who'd buy your existing house? Land prices in flood areas must have plummeted in recent years. I suppose an alternative would be to rebuild with a flood-proof house if you have a decent insurance payout. There's a range of engineering solutions available, but they add to the build cost.

I'm glad I'm safe from rainfall flooding. I live on top of a cliff overlooking sea water. The lea level would have to rise 10m before I get my feet wet, but I'll be well and truly pushing up daisies by the time the sea level gets that high - if it ever does.

I live about 20 metres above the Torrens River, nice to watch it in flood but the Cudlee Creek Caravan Park cops lost two in the 93 floods.
Most of the flood casualties here are idiots who believe the adds and reckon their SUVs can leap tall mountains and stop locomotives.

Camped last night beside the Fitzroy river, up early and get to derby before the heat set in. Got here around 1, very steamy now. Head wind all the way, dropped onto reserve at 207, which is a real worry. Grahames 750 made the 250km to derby without going onto reserve. I'm 40 kilos heavier, and carrying the heavy tools, as I have more carrying capacity, but the lack of range is a real worry.

Graham's rear Bridgestone by 46 is toast. It still has to make it the next 800 km to port Hedland. Mario from Thunderbikes in Perth has sent up a new tyre, great service! We will get to port Hedland Sunday night all going well, fit the new rear Monday morning
