V6 model kit

Hi Paul. I received my V6 building kit yesterday, it looks super nice, but it wasn't made in : 1:6, it probably would have been easier to make, today I made 6 intake funnels.

The last three parcels are on their way. Two to Australia and one to Canada.

21 people including myself made this V6 kit possible by financing what was to be a 1 year project and ended up lasting 2 1/2 years.
19 parcels were shipped to Europe, the American continent and Australia. I'll be content when all have arrived. It was fun even if a little long drawn out.
I may well be seeing Luciano Brach at the Trofeo Rosso track weekend in central France next July where we plan to ride down with Corinne.
I'll give him a hearty handshake.

Having mentioned the kit to a friend, who once owned an SFC750, I understand a kit is now on the way to the IOM. 😁
Don't know which year SFC750 your friend had, the Heller company in France made a 1:8 model of the drum-braked SFC, originals became hard to find and priced accordingly then a re-issue a few years ago by Heller made them more widely available, perhaps he'd be interested in finding one of those?
They also made a similar 1:8 model kit of the SF with ND instruments, earlier Bosch headlight, later tank shape, etc. but that doesn't seem to have driven re-issue demand.

OK, with all these first phase kits now distributed, who's going to be the first to show their completed model?

I started this one over 20 years ago , never finished . 🫣014.JPG

I don’t know but I will ask when I next see him. AFAIK he might already have one.
As for me, like many, when I was young I was an avid kit builder, but haven’t undertaken any in decades. Not sure I now have the patience or hands fit enough etc to start again. I have enough difficulty working on the full size versions….ā˜¹ļø

I half built it then gave it to my mate who finished it. To be honest I thought they were clumsy representations especially compared to what you find now. Ducati Paddy makes some brilliant models and the Japs make some fantastic model kits.

Show of hands....how many built the 1/9 scale Protar SF750 kits (two slightly different
variations) ? These kits came out I'm guessing circa 1971 before the Heller one.

Been there done that. Loved every minute of it.

A friend did approach Heller for them to re-manufacture a series of the 72 SF, but they declined.
Said friend who amongst other things assembles quality models for others along with painting "collector's" cars, made a couple of SFC kits to be adapted on the Heller SF. Very high quality.
It cost him his Citroƫn BX when it hit a boar as he was driving down to offer his kits to Massimo Laverda.

Aren't Heller currently owned by Glow2B from Germany? Could be worth a renewed try, or with Italeri, who own a lot of Protar moulds.
I have one of those Tamiya 1:6 scale models that was unobtainium for many years but it was reissued af few years ago (and now unobtainable again a few years later, but that's a different story). Apparently Tamiya watches eBay, too?

Which of the Laverda models is the best/most accurate (well, other than the V6!), the Heller or the Protar?

PS ...an SFC with the quality of the V6 would be awesome, too. I can dream! :)

I bought and built it in 1977. Did some modifications here and there. In those days I built WW1 planes too, DR1, D VII etc. None survived..

When we were kids my brother and I built a lot of WW1 & 2 model planes, eventually we got into the old mans gun powder and tried to blow them up, we packing them full filling up the fuselage and packing it down with a stick.
The results were underwhelming.

Fizzers! (as we used to call crackers that didn't explode as requested) I bet the old boy wouldn't have been too impressed with your plan! I reckon a penny or threepenny bunger in the fuselage mighta had the desired effect!!!
