Barbecue thread (all welcome)

The guy from the stall was plucking and washing a chicken in the gutter. The same gutter that outlet pipes from adjacent buildings discharged into. I don't know whether that drainage was sewerage, grey water or storm water, but it was a dirty colour and didn't smell too good. I was glad I'd heeded advice to avoid street food stalls.
Christiane and I were taken to a street stall (more of an outdoor food court, with maybe a dozen different stalls set up) on a one-night layover in Bangkok on the way home from Europe a few years back. Could have gone explosively wrong for the second leg of the flight next day but we were both fine. The food was absolutely awesome. I stuck to fully cooked stuff, no salad-y fresh stuff. I think as long as it gets nice and hot most of the bad stuff gets killed off.
As for any feelings of potential 'yuk' factor, hands up Aussies who's eaten a hot dog or a meat pie? The guy plucking the chook meant it was likely killed just then and would be on the barbie within minutes. Natural food unprocessed and likely a damn sight better than some of our fast food mystery bags. :D Harold from Vic told me he'd done some work (production machinery repair) at a hotdog frank plant in Melbourne and has never eaten a hot dog since. The contents do not bear thinking about. :D

Edit: Removed oblique reference to covid. No place for politics on the Laverdaforum!

Yummo, missed that, nice Andy.

Batto, I worked in a tomato sauce factory, I’ve never had bbq sauce, by choice, since.

I worked in a canned petfood factory, it’d actually be ok to eat, if you liked bran, crunched up bone and blood. Those chunky meat bits aren’t meat, but bran made to look like meat.

I worked in a Pet Food factory once as well, the smell was overpowering. Not rank, just extremely intense. The same as opening a bag of it but 100 times stronger. Not as bad as visiting a Chipboard Factory once, we walked into where it was mixed and glue was added and all 30 of us started tearing up from the fumes. What was shocking was the people who worked there all day and it had no effect on them. They had acclimatised to the effect.

Haven't been in this thread yet, but Fran has just fired up the Weber, (I'm not trusted with the cooking), some nice lamb, so I'm getting the important stuff done

Dropped in to Reds and picked a pair of Bobas carbon 750 side covers

But, today, I’m doing Tandoori chicken over charcoal. Been in fridge overnight like this. Further reports to follow.

Can’t remember if I have posted this before , but it’s always a laugh to remind your self of how serious bbq work can be !

Sunday lunch ..wings done in the air fryer..nice enough but not really bbq.
My fav is a combination of jamaican jerk paste and hoisin sauce marinade.chicken or pork .On the bbq..perhaps some smoke..
