Round 1 is go this Easter at Mac Park, Mount Gambier, South Australia. Roughly 2,000 km down the road from the Redax shed.
Both Redax girls were loaded this afternoon with Matt's BMW F1 and another bloke's Triumph 675.

Wishing the Redax team all the best for the start of the season. (y)

1st race Red flag 2nd lap, no restart
Matt was in 2nd behind a really quick local rider on a Ducati 750 or so he says
Race cancelled

2nd race was a ripper, Matt took the lead in turn 1 and led the Ducati for the whole race only for the Ducati to take him on the last corner before the finish line
Margin less than 1 second across the line

Both bikes were nose to tail the whole race, best race I have seen for years
3rd place bike was 1/2 track behind

If meeting goes well today we will get to run the cancelled race today
Mule going really well, new 180 tyre working great

Race this morning, 1st outright
Ducati passed Matt into the Hairpin first lap then we lose sight for 40 secs

Next thing we can see is entry into Turn 1 and Matt is back in front and kept the Ducati in 2nd until the end of the race with the Ducati showing him his front wheel diving into certain corners

Another very close race, Mule is going really well
Doing the Laverda name proud

last race, Ducati first on the first lap, Laverda 1st on the 2nd lap, Turn 1 on 3rd Lap Matt missed a gear and the Ducati passed him
coming out of the hairpin Matt ran wide onto the grass, gathered it back up and back on track but the Thruxton behind him had the speed and tried to take Matt into Turn 4 left hand corner, both bikes clashed and the Thruxton forced off into the dirt but kept it upright as did Matt

Gap now too big to catch the Ducati so came 2nd in last race
Collision broke off the right hand rear paddock stand Bobbin on the Mule and bruised Matt's right leg, close call for both riders

Talking to the Ducati guys after the meeting it seems I only have myself to blame for that bike even being on track as I picked up that Ducati engine last year in Brisbane and bought it down to Broadford for them in the race van
They married it up to a TT2 frame and now we have some real competition in F4 Class
Weighs in at 140 kgs and the rider is no bigger than Dani Pedrosa and a real quick rider

Next meeting in May at Morgan Park

Veloce's rear tyre, brand new this meeting, used her to qualify
17" x 160, SC1 compound, brand new for qualifying and only done 5 laps so around 15 klms
Can easily see what we have been dealing with, edge grip is missing

This is normal wear for our bikes for the last 6 race seasons

Mule's SC1 x 17" x 180 rear tyre, after two practice sessions and 3 and a 1/2 races
Huge difference, tyre is gripping and driving out of corners instead of spinning up and upsetting the rear end
Can now see why Matt has been asking me for the last two years for a 180 rear tyre

We added two clicks to the compression on the rear K-Tech race shock and did not touch anything else though we can see we need to dial the new set up in a bit better as rear end is still moving around a bit coming out of corners, need more testing

Am really happy with the result, now need to machine all the bits to convert Veloce to a 180 so both bikes are the same

Well done Red and Matt.
brilliant results and testament to the continual improvements Red undertakes and matt puts into practice.

Tyre wear is very interesting ! Must be some influence from the difference between the pure slick and the semi treaded slick ?

I agree with Kermit, even with the weight difference, that Duke must be putting out some serious horsepower. Doubly serious if only a '750'.
Maybe an electric motor hidden in the crankcase ?

Safe travels home Red.

What model 750 Ducati, must be a 4-valve, modern electronics? Great to be pushed by a strong competitor, even better when you win. BTW hands up anyone who hasn't missed a gear on a Laverda. Hope I get to see this in action sometime this year.
