I'm looking for a new pair of street riding boots and was just wondering what you all might recommend.

Don't want any 'Star Wars' Storm Trooper type boots, don't need toe sliders, etc... Just a tall boot, no external laces, water proof touring type boot.

Any suggestions?

Lovely Adelaide company used to make boots here. You drew an outline of your feet on paper and faxed it to them. Remember faxes? New boots would arrive and fit beautifully. So, nice little company decides to get boots made in china......

Wot, you want size 13 1/2,. Hahahaha. No chance. All motorcycle boots made overseas now. Nobody makes a boot bigger than a 12. FFS!!!!!

Next they will be telling me I can't buy XL condoms!!!!!

That's a great point, it's a good idea that bike boots don't only work for riding. EG Leather race suits are cut to have you set in a racing crouch and are not comfortable wearing for hours at a lunch stop. So make sure you can walk about in comfort in your fully white race boots, guess who has those for touring from memory?

I still have a pair I bought in 2001, both soles have been reglued on with Sikaflex. They are now my standby boots, I have had two new pairs of boots since (Dainese and Forma) which both were guaranteed 100% waterproof and yes they hold on well to the water that seeps into them - maybe the goretex is fitted the wrong way around, but those AlpineStar could still be used as waders. I just bought a new pair of the brand and they are completely waterproof after two years.
 
You may not want "Storm Trooper" boots but for myself, going from my past experience working in emergency departments and orthopaedics I would NOT be wearing a pair of boots that did not off tri-malleolar protection as well as for shin and toes.

Me, I wear SIDIs that give full protection. ( I am sure other brands are also offering the same level of protection)

Your feet and ankles so your choice I guess.

Yep, I'll never forget the young lady on the Isle of Man with her Tibia poking through her ankle.
Always wear high boot with ankle protection.

My boots wear out with the soles holing, which is the case at the moment with a pair of TRX boots so a change is about to happen. Anything will do as long as it's waterproof and slips into the legs of my riding trousers.

They also hole around the right ankle, either the DAM clutch kit or the rearset linkage bolt on the SFC.
