Just a footnote, those Guzzi side pull tops that came with those PHF's you have will be worth a few bob if they have the cable brackets and are complete.... You may recoup £80 the pair on ebay in time. 
I wouldn't get too hung up on boring carb bodies, there are thousands out there still. I have dozens and the will all go to the tip because there is no market for them now. the problem is the parts to rebuild Dellorto's are so expensive it will soon be cheaper to go Reds route with new mikuni than rebuild old Dellorto's.. some parts like pump one way valves have trebled in the last year i recently bought some more and the price trade was more than i was selling the last batch for retail
The only real problem with old Dellorto PHF/PHM now is finding the old style slides to suit, its not a problem for triples as you can machine the tickover ramp as its not used but with all others if you machine the ramp you will be forever adjusting tickover until you run out of adjustment, especially if you let the throttle snap shut against the ramp...
