Cool Videos

Hal Kendal was another well known early Laverda triple sidecar-ist , with what looked like a Watsonian Monza attached if I remember correctly .

There`s a pic of him piloting it in Archive Stuff somewhere ........

I would think a real challenge would be to fit one to a 750 twin ........

You need a sub frame.

Back to moving pictures again ........

No Laverdas , but it does feature Fast Freddie and Steady Eddie before they became Fast Eddie and Fat Freddie ....... or something like that ..........

The bit at the end about Dave Emde still being out on the racetrack ( due to being lumbered with the giant cameras ) made me smile ......

You can see what Pete Davies meant when he told Roger Slater that the Jotas were going to struggle to remain competitive from 1980 onwards ......

Saw a Lawson Rep Z1100R out on the road yesterday ...... amazing what a bit of sunshine can do .........

Good stuff. I moved to Southern California at 16, a few years before this, then spent a year in Monterey in '83 at the Defense Language Institute learning Arabic, and Greek in my 'spare' time, auditing the classes on permission from the Commandant. I wanted a bike so bad, but didn't have a pot to piss in, and dad hated bikes, so no dice. Back then, we took our bicycles out to Laguna Seca with a local club. A friend had a nice green Bianchi; I had a Peugeot, nothing special. I've been there a few times since then, camping near the corkscrew. I remember watching Ben Bostrom win in '01. Most recently, in '22, I camped with my son and a friend by the track, and took in the Historics, which was epic. Got to show my son where I used to live, work, and party.

Can I go for a ride, Mr
Once again, one of the first things mentioned is money.
When I rode around on the SFC, no one mentioned money. No one knew what the bike was and even less what they changed hands for.
Now, when I stop on the Vincent, money is mentioned in the first seconds of conversation. A right pain.
Last Sunday, the subject of money was brought up as soon as I parked the bike. I pointed out that Vincents changed hands for the kind of money a full dress Harley piece of .... were costing.

A man some of us know rode a Brough SS80 from the UK to Spain and back a few years back. With his guitar on the back I hope.

More than just money, silly money. So much it must scare owners not to ride them. What's the point if you dont ride them?
Money is never, or always silly, but whatever, it shouldn't stop the machines being used as intended.

It's just that money is put to the fore whereas it's the machine that is of interest.
Some people have got their values (sic) seriously mixed up.

In the ‘old’ days people didn’t ask how much but ‘how fast mister’….

I’m at Coniston this week, fired up K3 with a Merlin engine in front of me - sounds lovely! Hopefully going to see it run later..
Gotta love a Merlin. When I was a young teen I saw two massive racing hydrofoils on Lake Yarrawonga, each with a Merlin. My mate's old man had a metal foundry and he'd poured the propellor fitted to one of them. Awesome to watch them race - Stampede and Assassin - I even remember their names!

So your engine wasn’t built in Zane Hamish, but how much of the existing engine was built in Breganze?
I would think 80+% of it, now, was Breganze built, Andy. Re-built, using Laverda Parts in various other places.
Plugs, chains, bearings and 'Motodd preparation' parts would be the likely candidates for "spurious spares".
(Chapeau, to Phil37 on that expression.)

The Normal People
Had a smile when the cool dude spoke at 05:40 and rode off on his classic pan-head
Cool as 😎
