Pasteurisation is just a mild heating process. When they heat the milk for your coffee to "bloody hot", it's pasteurised.

I don't actually buy caffe lattes here. i order a flat white. And there are so many variations of names for the various coffees in various countries it's very difficult to get it right when OS. In Oz they serve a caffe latte in a glass. I asked once why and was told that's how they do it in Italia - I said that in 15 months in Italy i was never served coffee in a glass. That's why I order a flat white - it comes in a cup. Work that one out!!

hahahahaha , thats how they do it in Italia. That cracks me up. The funniest thing in Italy is if there is milk in coffee , its only in the morning, and generally for grand parents! Its quite funny seeing the horror on waiters faces when friends with me order coffee with milk, in any quantity after 10 am in the morning. Each to their own on milk or not, straight up black ristretto in the morning first thing, and there on after espresso the rest of the day.

Si, ? vero - gli Italiani odiano gli stranierie che vogliono un capucc dopo cena! It's sinful  :o

Gli Italiani non beve capuccino dopo cena.
Espresso.
Cappucino solo per i stranierI

Hahahaha ask for a Cappuccino in Spain , or definitely at least in Mallorca, and see what you get... whipped cream on black coffee a la cafe Vienna, I have never been in Austria, so I cant say if that is actually what qualifies for Cafe Vienna , slowly but surely you can find more and more good espresso here

Had to go to Nobles Hospital for a blood test yesterday and due to the covid-19 restrictions they have created a temporary blood clinic near the main entrance, with a waiting area in what is normally the seating area for the cafe. It?s not an area I take much notice of but looking around while waiting my turn my gaze was drawn to a wonderful looking contraption in the corner near the closed serving hatch. Closer inspection revealed it to be a vintage Bezzera espresso machine. I am due back for a scan next week so I will take my iPad so I can photograph it and post up for all to admire.

Those Machines had amazing figure heads on them originally. They reminded me of the old figure heads that cars used to have .

First cup of Sehe Ntamba #2 ( Burundi ) this morning. Will take some fine tuning but you can tell clearly it makes a better cup of coffee. Acidic without being bitter.....lovely aroma.

Back to bikes. My riding partner and I were out ( walking his dogs ) yesterday and wondering when we could ride out to the coast. Not for a while I fear. He said a friend of his was out riding and was pulled over, and told politely to go home . I will get the bikes out this afternoon, start and warm up to operating temperature and " take them round the block " .

ALEX

how's the rest of the coffee tasting going?

Just about to load the Pe de Cedro....I know I should not really put it in a Jura automatic machine, but it is all I have at the moment. We've just had a week of Danesi after the first Neroscuro batch , which I have to say as a daily cup I am very happy with.

Is there a NeroScuro blend / varietal for you that sticks out ?

You?ve painted a picture I miss.
Freezing your arse off, hooking into a meat pie, watching the footy. Yelling at the umpires and taking the piss out of the nearest visiting teams players. And taking abuse from an old granny watching near you.

If it was pissing rain, to watch from the warmth of your car parked a couple of metres from the boundary line, with a press of the horn for every goal, followed by a wipe or two to get the fog off the inside of the windscreen and telling your mates to stop breathing.

A quick run to the bar for a couple of cans of beer, and back to your vantage spot.

Good times.

Nought has changed CK..... it?s like time has stood still, when heading back to the local footy!
Your ole mates are standing in the same spot drinking cans and the ole fellas are yelling out the same one liners..... ?kick the bladder out of it?  ?chewy on ya boot? and some more colourful language  ;)
Good times alright

Only thing that?s changed, is they charge you to get in !

Mmmm I like typically old fashioned dark roasts , not burnt , but dark .  I buy 10 kg at a time which is the amount roasted in each batch.  (Actually it starts as 15 kg and there is a 30% weight loss through moisture loss during roasting )So I get them to do a dark roast just for me as I buy the whole batch .  They make really pleasant lighter roasts  though. But the one they do for me is my favourite.  It gets about 3 minutes longer in the roaster. Eventually I will get my 1965  roaster up and going ( same size as Nero Scuros)  , that should be a hobby that may turn into a retirement business.  But I won?t start that for a good few years.  I have to refurbish the roaster , and bikes and house renovations come before that.

Here you are Todd,

It needed a good flush out with lemon juice,a new pressure valve knob, and top gasket and filter. Also that You Tube guy"s help was invaluable, thanks.
