Espresso machines

Sensational! I haven't been on il foro lavardano for a day and already 2 pages are added to this thread. Che cavolo!

Isolazione chores here include doing house jobs we've avoided for 10 or 20 years ... such as clearing and cleaning the garage - my workshop is done - that's the front 6 metres ... only about 15 to go! And I've managed to clear everything away from the lovely chrome Wega Mini Nova, so out iot will come and onto the cleared bench!

Re beans, we now have several large roasters who distribute in Melbourne, including a few famiglle d'origine italiana. I've been buying from a small cafe next to the bike shop who stock high quality fair trade S American beans. My fave at the mo is Colombian ... my price about AUD$30 per kg. With the valore della nostra lira at the moment, that's about 15 euro!

I haven't seen an older woman in ages.

Hahaha.  I?m back to my ?X? rule here.

When you are a young man  the rule , if you are that way inclined could be your age , plus X, X being  the number in years that is acceptable to you for the older woman.
Clearly if you are 16 and you have the hots for your English, art , or French teacher , she may be say 26, X would be 10.
However if you are a silver fox of say 60 years old , the calculation may be inverse.  Eg 60 - X.  X being the age of the younger woman you have in your sights . Depending on your Mojo or your morals, X could be as high a number as 40 , as is obvious on the French Riviera, and in Porto Cervo. I?m sure there are other places in this world where this phenomenon is true also.  But I think in both cases the higher that the value X is has a direct relation to the length of the relationship.

Nice work.  Can?t wait to see the Wega up and going.
When she is running , this is the sort of pour you are looking for https://youtu.be/AN9GzRBZyB0
Don?t be filled into thinking that you need to have the espresso cup sitting on a digital scale , like some people do , there is slot to be said for pouring a shot  from skill.  That will come with practise and from the taste you like.

I have a lot of morals, but they don't reside in my trousers.

At my age, they would tend to reside in my wallet.

Paul, have you not got enough bike restorations on the go at the moment not to need to add espresso machines ?

My 2kilos from Neroscuro ( my logic to amortise the shipping costs from Bassano del Grappa to Sonoma was to buy more beans of course ) will be shipped next week and will " rest " during shipping and on arrival. I confess to forgetting or never knowing espresso beans needed to rest for several days after roasting.

Perhaps I should look at classic espresso machines ; there are many wonderful things about California but it is not the easiest place in the world to bring classic bikes and in particular cars into.

I laid in a few bags of Danesi to see me through COVID. Happy with it as an everyday bean, but am noting differences bag to bag.

I've limited myself to two at a time. One in the tear down stage, and the other in the fine tuning stage.
As soon as the Turismo is roadworthy, there'll just be the 3 C.

When that's finished, I'd very much like to get my teeth into the 125 Sport.

Plus the maintenance of the working machines including Corinnes.

The problem will occur if one goes bang.

I guess that means that many Laverda enthusiasts are also coffee wankers aficionados.

In English we say WTF! or what the hell!
Italians say "Che cavolo!"  Not sure why, because the English translation is "what the cabbage".

It's a bit like in English 'Get fffar away!' Cam. The hard 'c' should precede the word 'cazzo' ... una parolaccia!! A polite way of swearing.

Picked up an early Atomic British Patent espresso maker yesterday without the frother design, needs a clean ,will post pics when it arrives.

Ah Paul, growing up in Milan one of my favorite expressions was " porca la Madonna ! ".

My father was once at a colleague's burial at the site of his family's tomb. One of the workman had his fingers squashed under a marble slab. According to dad he came out with " porca LE Madonne ! ". I guess one was not enough to express how much it hurt....by all accounts it did not go down too well with the family.

Haha, that's because he had several fingers I imagine.

Lucky you, growing up in Milan.

I grew up in London, which I much enjoyed, but at a time when exotic meant a Chelsea-Arsenal match and when foreign designated Cornish or such exotic peoples.
As I said elsewhere, my father would go to Soho to get some disgusting coffee but it was coffee and the foreign press.

I remember the docks where we'd go when we needed a new cat.

Milan must have been fascinating in the 60s.

Milan is just amazing.  I go there several times a year for pleasure and work, to me it?s both.  Some of the best engineering workshops are there to this day.  Someday we hope to retire to Italy.  Even though they say Naples is incredible for the water for espresso , Milan does it for me. That said , Soho in any year in London is pretty cool too.  But Italy is where we will go

Going to live in Italy was a plan I toyed with many years. In the Veneto that I fell in love with more particularly.
Naples is something to say the least.
I love the deep South as well but the weight of religion and tradition is very present.

Life decided otherwise.

Looks like I've bought that Faema expresso machine. Don't tell the wife. It took me a few months to tell her that I'd bought a Falcone. And it cost me an engagement ring.
This should be easier.
