Fitting Clutch Cable - Through Kidney Shaped Window

simple, fiddle de dee the cable at gearbox end into position and ignore the clutch lever (handlebar end), with (of course) the gearbox end cable adjuster screwed right home (on very early cables it was not captive on the cable and was shorter which helped) remove the clutch lever from its pivot and fit the cable to the lever and the perch, the very last thing is to replace the lever on its perch and bolt it up, remember to grease the pivot bolt.

If it a new cable the nipple will be slightly to big for the slot only by a midges but enought too annoy the shit out of ya little bit of fettling is needed , if this is not a new cable you haven't practiced enough , by the road side on a rainy day , that dials you in , snip nose pliers-with a curve too them do the job easy .

Which bike are we talking about?
I thought all Breganze bikes had a round window (not kidney-shaped) and Zane bikes have a hydraulic clutch.
I've never found fitting cables too difficult with a round window.

Thanks Rob. I just found some pictures on google. Now I understand what folks are talking about. I'd not noticed the different window shapes before (not being a 750 owner).
If it's a pain in the bum to install cables with the kidney shaped window, why not open the window out to the round shape and fit a round bung?
I can hear rivet counters yelling obscenities at their computer screens.

As for fitting the clutch cable lower nipple - never had the slightest problemo since I CUT AND FILED THE LITTLE SLOT IN THE COVER :-* :-* :-* so I could fit my own extended easy lever (which was a 750 brake pedal lever thing that was no longer needed cos I went to a disc rear.

Yes, a 750 frame will go through most cars unscathed.
I have a few in case somebody wants to build an orange SFC replica.
As for the severe pain Quentin, I have some cousins in Australia used to that sort of practice.

Paul, I am sure you are well aware of this, however, just to be sure, if you have an early 750 you need to change the clevis to accept the much larger nipple on replacement cables. For interest purpose I have attached a piccy showing the original small nipple cable and clevis along with replacement cable with larger nipple. Obviously cannot fit and larger clevis is the easy way to go. (Apologies for stating the obvious, but others may not be aware......... :-[)
