Front wheel assembly.

Hi All. I’m currently restoring an 81 Jota. The parts diagrams for the front wheel show a washer on the spindle on the offside. Does this washer go inboard of the fork leg ie against the speedo drive or outboard of the leg against the T piece of the spindle? Many thanks in anticipation.

Ah right ….had to replace the the speedo drive housing, it’s was badly crushed and split around the steel insert….just had me thinking I didn’t want to repeat the same again. But thanks for clarifying 👍🏻

Well, the Japanese, the Germans and the Americans got us stuck with a left as in left side, gear shift. What does that prove?
Left is left and right is right and the Romans invented the railway gauge. And somebody's front side is another's backside. And queen Victoria, is behind.

It doesn't make sense at all unless you check the buoyage direction symbol on the chart. It is astounding how many mariners do not know buoyage, another tourist charter boat went the wrong side of a marker here two days ago and went aground, 50 evacuated off it, a nice end to their evening dinner cruise and way off topic.
 
in plumbing, regarding taps (as in sink/basin) or for some faucets and maybe one or two robinets, its a case of red on the right is wrong, but not applying to shower fittings.

said I the day after.....I beg to differ McStrap, the washer is sunk into the alloy speedo housing and takes the end load of the shouldered spindle, spreading the clamping effect, without it the speedo gearbox would become damaged rapidly, there should be a gap of about 2 or 3 mm between the fork leg and the speedo gearbox if your legs are parallel and straight, the last thing to tighten when assembling this area is the two pinch clamps on the right hand leg (stock caliper set up) and only once the legs have been settled, the disc caliper can often influence this especially if callipper adapters are used, so best done with the right calliper off its mount and clear of the disc.

I refer the Honourable/Horrible Gentleman to the answer I gave, earlier:
