I owned and mounted a lot bikes in my time but my favorite ride was that 70 Breganzie 750 SF - kept her for 45 years and sadly had to sell her 3 years ago - One of my 1st and Last Ride.
Back then; give me (An Irishman) an Italian Motorcycle any day. Laverda, Ducati a Guzzi or even a Benelli ;o)
Italian Motorcycles were extremely rare and hard to find in Canada back then. Yes: I had BSA, Triumphs, Norton's, Honda, Suzuki, Kawasaki... etc; but, Italian motorcycles were I was comfortable and could win races with.
I remember a race against 3 Kawasaki 1100 LTD's (A local Team of Kawasaki Salesmen from Sudbury on the Milnet Hwy). I stopped and waited for them a few miles up the road while my Breganzie was percolating gas out of her Dellertos - LOL
I was wearing a T-Shirt and Cut off Jeans, riding boots and an old Bell Helmet - They were garment with full Kawasaki Leather a Tyre - I was only out there to do some tunning when they showed up ;o)
The Milnet HWY, with it's Jack Pine 1/4 stretch, was a well known Motorcycle and Sport Car race track were racers came from not only Ontario but also from Quebec, Manitoba and the Northern States to race every Week End with a starting engagement a mile long (Boss 302's, 327's, 340's, 396's, 383's, 427's, 440's, 454's and Hemi's,,, etc) through the 60's into the early 70's before it was shut down. The Best all night pit parties in the world were there while Muscle Cars and Bikes ran the 1/4 all night long through every week end of the summer months.
The Jack Pine 1/4 mile is still there with reminiscence of the start finish line paint but too rough now and the Gravel Pits are filled in with trees.
The turbulent 60's was really a unique time especially if you were a teenager during the Cold War and get this; most teenagers where in College or University at the time and all had summer Jobs to pay for their Education.
After the assassination of JFK in 63, 1968 was something else.
You don't need a Super Bike to be a good Cafe Road Racer. I had a Suzuki 500 Titan all done Cafe and she was a sweet heart - Except she stank - LOL
