Just A Bit Of Sport.

There were examples, back in the day, of a bike sold as a 'Jota', later turning out to have had A11 cams in it. Is it still a genuine 'Jota'?
When the 'Jarama' bikes were brought back from the States, by Slaters, some were fitted with 4C cams, hi-comp pistons and open exhausts, before sale, like the "original" 'Jota'.
What did that make them?
We called them 'Jarota's, at the time.
To me the whole 'Jota' thing smells a lot like "the fragments of the one true cross".
Nothing new.
The more money is involved, the more the specs become variable as does the pedigree of the seller, auction houses included.

Best thing to do is buy a nice Laverda, not a Jota.
A least, if you fork out for a 750 SFC, there's a register. If you don't refer to it, too bad, don't come back crying.

And what’s this worth?
Full Oro restoration, new old stock frame, stove enameled, new wheels almost everything new. Motor rebuilt.

Yep, I know, it’s not 100% original, but it floats my boat

That`s very nice .......... My Mirage was never as clean as that ( although I did my best ) ......... Over the years it went through pattern levers , different shocks , frame powder coat , stainless fittings , about four different exhaust systems , an engine rebuild and so on ......... so it was never going to remain 100 % original , that would be impossible ......... but it did remain a Slater spec Green Mirage ........ the vitals such as 4C cams , exhaust , gutted airbox , ergonomics , colour scheme , even carb settings for a long time ....... all remained present and correct ......

So , if I purchased that 3CE at £15500 , having verified that it was a genuine " E " ....... then I would simply replace the standard mufflers with a pair of Jota pipes ....... I would expect the 4C cams to still be in place , I wouldn`t necessarily expect to find the original 10:1 pistons still in there , or expect the original Bosch ignition to still be in place , but you never know ........ but then that`s just something you would just have to accept with a machine that has been around for nearly half a century .......

What`s it worth .... ? ....... the important thing is what it`s worth / what it means to you ..... not it`s market value .......... ( OK then , I`d say at least in the same region as that 3CE ....... but I guess you won`t be letting it go any time soon ... :) .......... ) .........

( Bloke I used to work with had an old Bristol saloon , which he used to drive into work ........ not the most attractive looking of cars ........ but considered a classic , or even valuable by some ........ just by reason of it being old , and rather strange looking .......

People would ask him how much it was worth ......... No idea was his reply .......... Most people would just consider it to be a strange looking old car , and would hardly give it a second glance , never mind give more than £100 for it , which they would never do anyway ..........
However , if he could find a Bristol enthusiast ...... well , he might get a couple of grand for it ..... ( this was the 1980`s ) .......

At the end of the day , something is only worth what somebody is prepared to pay ...... the problem is finding that somebody .... ) ......

Just an aside, pertaining to whom does what to a Laverda, short or long term, at no stage or anytime have i sent an iis system to Italy, rest of the world, especially the UK, riders made their rides more "rideable", Italians have me well perplexed, other ignition system makers may have supplied, never had one contact from Italy going back to 1995. Are they ridden in Italy or awaiting export to the world, never know the answer. j

Italians don't use them much and tend to ask the rest of the world when they want information about their home grown products.

Obviously a subject that has been flogged to death over the years, but my two penny’s worth.
If the bike is totally ‘original’ (unlikely in most cases) it is as it was described as first sold whatever the spec.
Many bikes should now be described as blah-blah modified to Jota/Mirage/SFC/Montjuic/etc etc spec (or what I or the person who last messed with it think it is).
If it’s a parts’ bin ’special’ heaven only knows what it is.
