Laverda 500 Barn Find

It's pretty similar to Oz slang, the older stuff I get but newer stuff with specific local references not so much. Lots of the Queenslander comments go through to the keeper, to me. Cricket reference. Rhyming slang does similar a lot as well.

"Guff" is a slang term for Data or information, and "in my bound" are carefully kept copies of that mentioned Magazine.
Thanks, it’s hard to understand all those ā€œslang termsā€ on the forumšŸ˜….
I also have copies of the magazine. eBay sells everything.
Never find the magazine with the award ceremony off the competition. I heard a lady won the bike.
Do you have this issue?

Is that the Bunt bike? Remember reading about that (I had a Mk1 Monty at the time) and entered the competition. Did you win it Andy?
Still got all the guff in my bound 🄸 copies of SuperBike 😜
I bought it off a guy called Steve Hands, who, if I remember correctly, acquired it off the competition winner. I then sold it to John Robertson after having raced it at places like Donington, Mallory Park, Silverstone and of course at the MGP and TT. I probably rode it on the road a few times too.

I’ll have a look. šŸ™‚

Apparently the sale was ended because the seller hadn’t made it clear enough the engine is missing cams and a cam chain. Personally, I thought that was clear enough from the photos and the description, what you see is what you get. I guess it might reappear for sale at some point.

Not only the cams missed. The cilinderblock is lifted so you can expect piston damage and more when water came in.

I was out riding my Jota when I found this dilapidated old barn. Does that make it a Laverda barn find?

I’m sure you weren’t the first to ā€˜find it’, even if it was ā€˜lost’ in the first place; so, NO, it doesn’t count…..😜
And I’m sure in many parts of the world it would be considered a luxury des res and not a barn! 😃

The competition ran for 3 months, my only Superbike mags with bits missing 🄸

Thanks David,
I Have the April 83 magazine but not the October 83. Now I know who won the competition.
Every time the story is more complete.

Did you know the bike in 1981 when it was in the magazine for the first time?
