My 3CL is 4045. If you reckon 6990 is a prototype 3CL what the hell does that make mine ?

I know. I emailed you about it years ago after Red told me. Silver frame and red paint if I remember correctly. Another anomoly as Europe didn't get silver frames for another 4 or 5 years.

Original owner was in Perth at time of order, It was Green with Black frame as far as im aware...... That was the color scheme they ran with when it featured in Mad Max. Will drop me mate a message to double check.

engine number looks very much genuine. Could be that it was an unstamped engine that got the frame number. 69xx is defenitely Series 1

The S2 180° and 120° engines use exactly the same basic casting. The S2 180° engine was developed in anticipation of the 120°, which made use of the casting mods that are not utilised in 180 configuration and therefore look a bit out of place. Most mods and additions were meant to reduce mechanical noise, the 120 crank and gearbox were extensively re-worked and came out a lot stronger, despite spinning on exactly the same centres.

The boss at the front of the case is cross-drilled for 120° application and carries the front set of rubber mounts. Only one of the outer (180°) mounts is drilled in this case!

Not sure bud, didn’t they all come through stanco back in those days? I know it had fck all is on it when we got it in 91 from the Gold Coast, how is old Lexy, drag him along next month

Due to our fine fettling at the WA concessionares (Hartley Motorcycles) Yeah, all came through Stanco - I recall the 3CLs with soft valve seats being recalled.

Mine came from John and Colin's Honda Shop, also ex Stanco.
