The French have quite a few interesting musicians and songwriters but some cultures are rather closed. Would the english speaking world ever have heard of Claude François' "Comme d'habitude" if Sinatra hadn't turned it into "My way"? The examples are numerous and yet in France, we have a lot of anglo-saxon music.

France always had a great love of British and American early rockers. Vince “ Brand new Cadillac “ Taylor had great touring success there, despite being somewhat of a nutter. As such he was Bowies inspiration for Ziggy Stardust.
