Four weeks and two days isn't too bad. I'm still waiting for my 2018 calendar to arrive.

Cost and shipping of 2022 calendar

Although we've two additional monthly pages in the 2022 calendar, we could maintain to keep the overall weight per calendar below 1kg.

After the experiences with limited air freight capacities and partly untracked shipments last year we decided for tracked plus insured shipment for this year only.

To outline the cost per calendar incl. shipping into different regions we’ve put together this chart:

Cost change for individual calendars outside EU (marked up in yellow).

Up to now we generated the shipping documents for individual calendars with the courtesy of OCT. Reason for that is that 1kg items can be sent via the 'Deutsche Warenpost' for EUR 11.35. The catch is that this service is reserved for commercial users only.


The day before yesterday I was at OCT and Piet kindly set up their PC for me, the way that I could generate the shipping documents there, for the 26 individual calendars, which had been on order so far.


Now that we are in the printing and packaging phase, we can no longer sustain the shipping cost stated in my earlier post for shipments outside the EU for individual calendars which now come in as stragglers.

Alternatively we offer you insured and tracked shipping via DHL. This would amount to
- 14.09 EUR for Germany (D), and,
- 16.70 EUR for CH, DK & UK, and,
- 19.89 EUR per shipment for overseas regions.

As this fees cover 2kg, you could also include a 2nd calendar for the same shipping cost.

Luckily it wasn't Jo's and my construction site.

Since this can happen, we prefer tracked and insured shipping. Firstly, you can see where the package is and if it is lost, the money is returned.
I don't like it when a good action creates stress. So both sides can sleep well.

Last night we continued to produce our calendar:
- cut the back carton
- cut print sheets to the final format
- punch the back carton
- punch calendar content
- gather the back carton and the contents of the calendar
- drill a hole to hang the calendar

Today we continue with the insertion of the black Wire-O spiral. After that, each individual calendar has to be shrink-wrapped to protect the calendar. Then it goes to the heavy work of packing ...

Jo has perfectly prepared the shipping documents with labels and customs declarations in 48 documents, each with several pages.

Originally Jo wanted to drive the 420 km from Cologne to me, so that we could pack the calendar together.
Due to the high and rising corona numbers, we decided at short notice that we'd rather not do that.

If everything goes according to plan, we will hand over the first parcels to DHL on Monday.
You will then receive the tracking number from Jo.

We're doing well in the race......

Today the calendars were shrink-wrapped, now I'm packing the first parcels that will be handed over to DHL tomorrow morning.

Songs by Rory Gallagher, Thin Lizzy, JJ Cale, Allman Brothers, .... make night work a little easier.

But I keep thinking about the beer that Tom the wrecker will spend us at the 75th birthday in Breganze.
Here in the bookbindery it is dry like in Death Valley .....

Yesterday and today we have quite a few stragglers from Scotland, Germany, Switzerland, ...
No problem, as long as we still have a calendar and we receive paid orders, we deliver immediately.

Update calendar dispatch:

Originally we wanted to have the calendars packaged by pretty young virgins so that you would get the appropriate vibes when you open the calendar. Unfortunately we didn't find any girls who met both criteria.

Inevitably, we had to do the packaging ourselves. We think that when you look at the beautiful pictures, you still have positive feelings.

Today the last paid international orders were handed over to DHL. You will receive your personal tracking numbers from Jo in the next few days.
I have to sleep a couple of nights again, then the German orders will be dispatched.

We are also pleased to see a number of stragglers who are moving towards shipping step by step.

Ok, if we get feedback from everyone when the calendar has arrived, we can calculate who has the fastest (km/h) postman.

I'll pay the winner (not the postman!) a beer or a wine at the 75th birthday party in Breganze.

An important note for those new to the calendar:

Please always use at least three sheets of paper when you hang up the calendar. Otherwise the paper can tear at the hole!
We are not responsible for spilled coffee mugs, slain pets or disturbed love acts that were caused by the falling of a calendar.

One of my shipments has already cleared customs in Canada ....... but I fear that with the major disruptions due to flooding (Vancouver is cut off from the rest of Canada ...... ALL roads are washed out) the shipment will travel very slowly now. Still happy to see both packets have made it to Canada very, very quickly!
