Mirage Oil Leak

Nah! make suasages out of them, just like the real, original, pre PC and proper punch and judy shows
aka professor Dan Bishop, a master of the art, and art is certainly is, when done as it should be for an adult audiance as originaly intended, by the Victorians, and dont mean the ones that live in Aus!

So is it fuel or oil?…….do you turn your fuel taps off? (Best practice if sitting)
is It tracking from somewhere else?
Yep taps off (as normal) I thought there may be some oil in the carb pumps which I’m not familiar with. (I know Amals inside out; literally). Tank off job I suppose.
On the topic of oil, there’s an adjustment nut/bolt coming out of the bottom of the primary cover, is it a chain tensioner? That’s weeping a bit too.

I generally use petrol. Just flush out the crud, new pipes nothing major.
If you didn't do anything else, you probably have muck in the float bowls, and maybe in the bottom of the tank if your flushing out wasn't thorough.
In case of a leak, it looks like treacle, or oil.

A search on here for “primary chain” will yield lots of info and opinions on adjustments, and take care of a wet Sunday 🤣.
Depending on the state of the chain (remembering that chains are cheaper than sprockets and cases) you will need several copper washers stacked under the dome nut. If these and the one under the locknut are annealed or renewed then the weep will stop 👍

Nothing worse than a crying primary adjuster, yes it is a hard life, especially when you smack it on the ground when getting stuck into a left hand sweeping corner.... but crying... its too much.....sic j

once had the issue that the
head cover was broken at the bottom of one fixing points of the M6 screws. It was hard to find but there always was oil at the back of the engine and carbs.
Have a look to those,
Andre

Ok sorry to revisit this but I think I’ve located this oil leak.
I now think the head gasket may be leaking slightly. I gave it a test run and got it nice and hot. Got home and we’re smoking; literally!
Should I start by simply retorqueing the head bolts or maybe take a different approach under your advisement?
Thanks for any response.
