Today was the big day for the old Spanish scrapper, I was going to take a petrol container to the garage but I thought why bother, just take the tank. I was a bit worried there would be leaks because someone had plastered araldite over a couple of areas of the tank underneath so I sanded it all off but found nothing.
I left the tank in my lockup last night just to make sure it wasn't leaking anywhere, You really don't want to be playing around with petrol etc where I live, they are still replacing the flammable cladding, but anyway this morning everything was good so I fitted the airbox and hoses, then the tank and fuel lines, much to my surprise no leaks from the carbs, pressed the starter and gave it a bit of throttle and it started.
It sounds nice actually, I had to set the tickover but that didn't take much doing and then rode it around the car park a few times. The only problem now is the gearchange, all the gears are there somewhere but 1st and neutral are the only ones playing the game reliably. The others go into hiding.
Rev counter works, speedo works, brakes work, lights work, horns work, comfortable riding position, if I can get the gears sorted I'll be well chuffed.
I've just realised looking at the date of the first post that it's 2 years of my life I've wasted on this bike and the gears still don't work ha ha!
