Paul LeClair's new project (Non Laverda)

I can't say where your at Paul but you can rent and with a clause to buy the same thing from BMW that is refined beyond our dreams.

How about an Electric Harley!

One thing about Vintage Honda's, forgetting they're left shifters, in spite of their powerful engines which turn to powder, they waste time shifting before getting to speed and their frames snake. Breganzie's do NOT snake and all you need is one gear to get to speed.

Loved the Suzuki 1100 GSX but that was a long time ago and not a bike to keep.

I suggest you put your time and money into your Breganze 3 Cly - It will be much more rewarding.

Do what your going to do and sell it for a profit but I'm trying my best to tell you, from experience, that Vintage Honda 6 Cly is NOT a ride.

The only thing is that it takes a lot of daring and physical strength to ride a Breganzie competitively and I'm just getting too old.

Paul.

I know how it happens. As we get older, we spend more time on long winter's evenings, sitting with the whisky bottle, thinking "I'm going to build one hell of an insane motorcycle".

Please accept top prize for actually acquiring the basis of such a project.

I'm sure there'll be moments when you find yourself in the foetal position in the corner of a dark room muttering "what have I done".....but that's motorcycles :)

Spares? Haven't read other suggestions, but a line to David Silver in the UK would be my first move. If he doesn't have the stuff, he'll know where to go.

Oh. And Good Luck!

...and gissago when it's finished and tested.

[1] there was a Moto Martin CBX "none runner" on UK eBay last week. - Thank God I missed it!

Hi all

I have owned various CBX's in the not so distant past. My last one was a gorgeous pearl white 1982 with the Pro Link suspension. I am going into this with my eyes wide open, well aware of the various limitations and challenges of CBX's, especially the early ones like this with wimpy skinny forks and weak single piston brake calipers etc., etc.

This turbo CBX is just so nuts I had to buy it. This will be my project for winter 2014/2015. I have other projects to finish before I get to the CBX, but you have to buy them when you find them......... ;) :D 8)

You could graft some drum brakes onto it. That would make it a Real Man's Motorcycle  ;)

H. (Slightly envious..)

You can make a CBX frame handle OK. Check out Roland Skate's Beast (666). It does some pretty respectable lap times.

Roland is the bloke in the red check shirt. I don't remember what he's done to the frame/suspension, but he's a nice friendly bloke so would probably be happy to talk to you. I don't have his email address, but he's a committee member of the CBX owners club of Australia so the secretary (Garry May) could out you in touch with him http://www.cbx6.com.au/contacts.htm.

The engine has been worked a bit, but not too extreme. I think he said it had Carillo rods, slightly higher compression racing pistons and a set of race cams. That's pretty much it. I'm not aware of it ever blowing up so the engine must be solid enough - as you'd expect from Honda. I dunno how well a CBX crank and gearbox would cope with 400 HP though!

Roland's bike sounds great - one of the reasons I like multi-cylinder bikes.

Well it looks like you're committed to do it. We should have some interesting reading from you about the resurrection come winter months.

If your successful, we will definitely want to hear your experience about riding that monster next year .

I resonantly picked up Rolands 64 (She's no Martin Orme 88 key piano) and after some 12 years, thinking about getting back onto a keyboard next winter, providing I'm alive and my hands can take it ;o)

I have heard it with the 6 into 6. He had it at Broadford at Easter. Some hotshot dude was riding the bike (I forget who, but it was some well-known racer). It was bloody quick - about 10 seconds a lap faster than I could manage on my MHR.

The year they first came out there was a couple of them drag racing with Marvic 6 into 1s on the dirt access roads up on the mountain at Bathurst. The hair on the back of my neck defiantly remembers that, didn't matter how much alcohol I had consumed, the riders as well probably.

I'm not a fan of the Honda six, cost me 2 broken vertebrae and a burned and beat up SF2..  :-\

What on earth is a "collegial atmosphere"? Toffee nosed gits drinking tea perhaps?

Could mean lots of frat parties, geeks, jocks and cheerleaders with ponytails.  Or perhaps the guys all wear tennis gear, have names like Trent or Sherman and smoke pipes a lot to look intelligent.

I've seen all this in the movies..

Paul,

Done the application for you already - you should be hearing from them in no time at all.

I mentioned about the turbo CBX, coz I thought they'd be really impressed.
