I like 'em, even the first one that has so offended all the tea drinkers.
What the hell, it's something different and interesting rather than yet another SFC-bodyworked 3CL (which by the way I love also!). If it's not the ideal Laverda to blast the autobahnen or do track days or ride to Nordkap it doesn't really matter. For tootling 50 miles to visit a pub and have people stare in awe or confusion or moral outrage it's perfect!
Piet's comments about the suitability of the transmission for the belt are fully respected. That's experience and knowledge speaking there- the output shaft can be marginal even in normal operation. There's definitely something going on under the cover but it does not look like the outrigger bearing arrangement that it would appear to require. It's certainly better if a heavy custom is still a viable long-term device but he's obviously out and about on it so I'd be curious what he's done there and also how it fares over time.
But a bit of variety in the Laverda world is a good thing I reckon. More power to him.
