RGS Executive project available in spring of 2026

I'll second that..now Santa Cruz is #1 with me. Start taking shots at the Golden State...No,Santa Cruz WAS not
a hispanic St. Nicholas. Near where James Dean bought it in his Porsche 550.
Just an FYI for trip planning purposes: Santa Cruz is 2 1/2 hours and 220 kms north of Paso Robles….. however you are correct that James Dean did die at the intersection of highway 41 and 46 at Chalome, Ca. This is about a dozen miles east of Paso on the way to Interstate 5. After all these years the intersection is being re designed and may well have been completed since we left.

Hwy 41 West, aka 'Green Valley Rd', is a fantastic ride that takes you from California 101 over to the 'Mother Road' Hwy 1. Great riding around PR and San Luis Obispo County (y)(y) . Good luck with your sale

This thread may also be of use - I think the photos of the VINs are maybe a little clearer.

What does the California title (which based on the license plate it should have) say in the entries for 'Vehicle ID Number' and 'Motorcycle Engine Number'?

Do you still have the originally riveted-on data plate?

Do you have the missing fuel tank and fairing badges?

I joined the site specifically out of interest in this bike, hence my pointed questions, but have been enjoying looking over the whole site.

Thanks very much

A bigger issue on the title might be that the engine number is incorrect, with an extra 4 at the end, but it’s fixable with a little bit of hassle. The CA DMV people seem to be incapable on so many levels!

The good news is that the vehicle ID number matches the original stamping on the frame, so the Oregon assigned number sticker is immaterial.

It would be nice if the original data plate were available, when I powder coat a frame I mask it off very carefully with aluminum tape or remove and re-rivet.
