My bike arrived this morning and I'm absolutely delighted. It's the Orange 3CL from Charterhouse Auctions. The fact that this 50 year old bike hasn't got its original engine doesn't matter to me. It started on the button and is mechanically quiet. I see the previous owner of 3 years paid more than double what I gave for it. Now it's going to have an oil and filter change, and a good check over before I take it out.

Valvoline VR1 is a good oil ( there are others) filter is a strainer in the bottom , you may have to move the the lhs exhaust to get it out - has an o - ring so no gasket required

Pleased that the bike is good. Enjoy it.
Don't sell it, it'll only be worth half what you paid for it in 3 years.

Some know the price of everything and the value of nothing. Ignore the Job’s Comforter’s and enjoy your new machine. In my view the 3CL is a good choice with its softer A11 cams and lower compression, 3CL= ‘thinking man’s Jota!
My 3CL was orange when I got it and I got sick of folk thinking that it was a Jota. I painted it green and now the tyre kicker’s leave me alone. If anyone asks me what the difference between my machine and a Jota is I say “£5000” . I would imagine that you bought the bike with your heart and not your head so you can safely ignore any negative remarks! -Ride it like you stole it 🏍️

Thanks for your positive comments. The previous owner bought it from Moto Strada 2 years ago for £11150. I've got the reciept. This forum is much like the MG forum, where you get rivet counters detracting other people's pride and joy. Why ffs? As far as 'and so it starts' I choose my arguments, and this one isn't worth it. Looking forward to getting to know her tomorrow!

I noted the thread with regards to the disappointing hammer prices realised by the Laverda's for sale at Bonhams Autumn sale at Stafford. I considered that the prospective buyer's of those Lav's on offer in the sale might visit here first to see what others have to say about Laverda ownership
Supposing the uninformed person was me I'd perhaps leave it at that as my new acquisition will be worth bugger all in a few years time and I can't afford the parts anyway.
If any Forum talks its subject down it's this one. In effect those wanting to purchase a Laverda will probably look elsewhere as Laverda's aren't worth the hassle. could this be the reason these Bikes are unsold or someone gets a bargain. {shit sticks}
So in conclusion we end up with a machine that isn't popular along with premium parts prices, in my view it can only go one way. The fact is there's a lot of knowledgeable and friendly people on here who are only too willing to help out with a problem {I can vouch for that}. This isn't necessarily the first thing that the prospective Laverda's owners will see on their first {and only} visit as it's the negative aspect which will turn these people away if it's seen first hand.
I hope you enjoy your Bike Jez and don't be frightened to ask if you have a problem, contributor's are only too happy to help.

I won't be frightened to ask thanks. I owned a Jota 24 years ago. Everything came flooding back when I saw my 3C being unloaded. Nice company for my H2 triple.

Guys, please... Paul has his oppinion which he is free to air (and frequently does). None of us has to agree with it.

I absolutely appreciate though his passion for the brand. He takes up tasks live has given him like his burned 750 SFC or the current restoration of his burned triple and shares his experience openly. The production of the V6 model is also innitiated by him, which causes work and gives folks the rare chance of being part of this fabulesly produced kit.

Is he everybodies darling? Maybe not. Neither am I, I am pretty sure of that. So - please let's keep this respectful as usual and don't blame people for their perspectives.

Thanks
