SF2

That should be fun. As you say, it seems to be pretty much all there. And - dare I say it? - I'm not totally against the curious paint job. You won't see another like it, that's for sure ... :giggle:

P.s For stuck pistons, I've heard of good results using a 50:50 mix of ATF and acetone. Might be worth a try. Won't cost much, at least.

Stick some diesel down the honda bores, and leave it stand for a couple of weeks.
The CB77 cylinders have had Kroil in them for months, this one is really bad, one cylinder is now free the other is stuck fast. I've had quite a few seized ones and managed to free off all but two, this being the second. Fingers crossed for the SF2.
The chains used to snap frequently on my 3C because at the time, rear chains weren't really up to the job. the poor old rear hub always copped it just like the one on this bike. All the other broken bits are the same parts that broke on my 74 3C too.

I have a set of wheels in brown on my new one , that would match yours ;)

It doesn't look like it's been down the road much but who knows? I'll find out on Monday when it arrives. My clutch lever bracket broke because I over tightened it as Paul said. You have to learn somehow when you are young and it was the excruciating financial pain which made me more careful when Richard Slater handed over the bills for my lack of know how.

Clutch brackets are pretty much unobtanium from what I can tell. Mine was broken, as well. Had it welded up, then dressed it and painted, looks original and so far ... so far ... hasn't broken again.

Brown? Nah mate that's a genuine magnesium rear end....
Hi, you have got a lot of work there but anything is possible. I restored dave mintons old gtl which had stood in his orchard for 25+years and the piston where stuck.
But the problem wasn't really the pistons as the bike had been left with the exhaust valve open. That's where the whole project nearly went tits up due to time pressure as the Stafford show was only two weeks away.
Anyway everything turned out fine the pistons got a soak of 50/50 petrol and diesel along with the head.
Good luck 🤞.
Regards Andy 😁

Thanks lads, it can't be any worse than my worn out 3C which has sorely tested my patience and emptied my bank account but is apparently now ready to hit the road. I haven't seen it for a while (thankfully) because of all the restrictions but it is ready to be collected from Ged.

You have two bank accounts?

Well the SF2 was delivered today, my first impression was that although fairly heavy, it's a small bike. Just the right size in fact. I can't wait to take a better look, the chrome is fairly poor as the photos show but it does look very complete and untouched. I hope it's easier to get this engine freed off than the CB77 was, I got that apart at the weekend but boy did it take some effort and those little pistons are only half the size of the Laverda ones. The SF2 has clean oil in it and the carbs are free, the tank stinks of stale fuel, can't see anything hacked about, fingers crossed there will be no evil surprises. The seller told me he bought it from a dealer in Bergamo where it had sat for years.
Oh and it's got a UK registration too so that saves me a job.
