That’s going north, Google says you can drive east to Eucla on the SA border in only 15 hours. Anyway I’m not sure how you get the 1/3 part since Derby to the public toilet just over the NT border east of Kinurra is only another 9 hours and 21 minutes. (Isn’t Google Maps great?)
Perth to Eucla and back, that was the 'Border run' back in the day, do they still have it? Mostly BMW guys who were the organizers and the Ducati Club a few Guzzi, Laverda or two, and usually a sidecar
A weekend run, leave Perth on Friday arvo, stop at a pub to quench the thirst then sleep in the bush Friday night. Up early and on into Eucla, get to Eucla sometime Saturday afternoon after hours and hours in the saddle on endless straight roads with nothing between petrol stations except bush and the bitumen to look at.
Saturday night in Eucla to have a beer or many with a bunch of blokes from South Australia who rode in from the East, Adelaide area mostly. Drink into the wee hours of Sunday morning sleep a couple of hours, up early for a 'soldiers breakfast'' then ride back to Perth Sunday because you had work Monday morning. If you were lucky you got back to Perth in time for the session at Steve's pub or maybe the Weir.
Approx a 3000 km round trip for no reason other than to just do it, is a sure way to burn through and square off a perfectly good tyre. The Border Run once was enough for me, some did it every year then if I am correct it evolved into doing it via dirt roads only.

Border run had its 50th anniversary maybe 5 years ago. Kenny is going this year, 1st w/e in Aug.
Last time I did it was back in 2008. Dirt from Hyden to Noorsman, bitumen to Border Village than back on the what's left of the old telegraph track to Balladonia then north on a really shitty washed out 200kay track up to the railway line and follow that 200 kays into Kalgoolie. Not for Laverdas, or wannabes adventure bikes!!
