Valve shims

I do not need a head expert, see above, I am sorted. But have been waiting for Keith for 2 years for rod change..yes , would recommend Keith. Its a pity others dont wont to help owners know who else can do head work?. I guess they like to farm it out and take a cut? Who knows, they seem to want to keep it secret? Why pm? Spell it out?

Right, you asked for it.
As I said in my PM and in my email to you it is a 'secret' because I am protecting an already overloaded engineer.
I drip feed my work to him as his time becomes available.
All I will say further is this is not another brand new engineer no one knows about so stop having a hissy fit because you didn't get your way.
I do this for a living. How would you like if someone asked you legal advice without paying for it.
Get over it.

Thanks Grant, I am sure that will be much appreciated by all. I like an argumment  true  but dont know why you switch in to such an aggressive mode? Not good for a service provider, i would have thought, and I just dont like your approach and attitude, but maybe thats just me?anyway, sounds like we should all retrain to be cylinder head engineers  there seems plenty of work even from a dimishing band of old laverda owners.

I really tried to play nice but like a fart in a space suit you wouldn't go away.
I don't like your tone.
I'm out of here.

Bravo Nick, you've just got rid of another pro.

Another couple like that and there'll only be questions on this forum, but no answers.

Paul

An odd reaction from an odd fellow, Paul. We too are on different wavelengths...best leave it that..life is too short, no?

I normally try to avoid to get involved in that things.... But I feel bad because it was my thread.

Nick, I don't know you, neither I know Grant, personally, but he has been always opened to help me for no money (many times), so he has demonstrated to me that he is more than a good professional. Just don't cry like a baby, try to find solutions to your problems, probably he would have offered you a good solution if you had asked the nice way!

One of the reasons why I like Laverda, is not their fucking vibrations or the fact that my le mans is much better than the sf3, is because of this community! So please leave this discussions behind and enjoy the source of knowledge that this forum is. And Grant is a big part of this, and I hope it stays like this for long time.

Miguel

I fully understand Grant's position.

You get a lot of people with an attitude similar to what is being displayed here who are not trade qualified, and simply do not understand the intricacies of trade relationships built on trust and experience over long periods of time.
It only takes one wrong recommendation and the whole lot falls to pieces and you have to start again.
It is simply a matter of protecting not only your business but more importantly the friendships that have evolved because of your business and at the end of the day it is these friendships that make your working hours fun and enjoyable.

Surely that is easy enough to understand?

cheers
Tom

Miguel,
I think you have somehow misunderstood? I dont have a problem ..it was you that had a problem and I dont think it is heloful for anybody to say they know the answer..but will not tell? Get it now? I was feeling that you were not getting an answer..which you didnt. If you re read you will see that i found a solution, courtesy of Richard Slater himself, Clem and Keith. I dont understand the snowflake attitude of people who waltz off in an offended huff either.. There is another thread on here about tank repair where Grant has commented and the guy asks who can actually do it...I wonder if the help will go that far? If someone knows but wont say, better not say anything maybe? Fyi, i have met Grant , including back in 2006 at the  Cor Dees museum opening event, and used him for Laverda work, and the shock refurb he did was second to none., and  just wish he would lighten up! Lets hope you can get your Laverda head fixed, I think it is one of the big problems with our bikes long term, so the knowledge of how to fix them should be shared not hoarded.
Best wishes

Tom
Owners dont really want to become enmeshed in trade secrets, they just want to know who can fix the head..ard you going to tell them, if you know, or not?

Hi Nick,
Maybe yes, I missunderstood. I am not super confident out of my mother tongue, if that waa the case, my apologyse. But, I got helped! Some people I think also Grant told me to send it to Keith instead of using unexperience Laverda engineers, that was an idea I hadn?t considered, and actually I am doing so, as Keith has worked very nice for me in the past.

is because of this community!!

I am completely with Miguel bur can? t give the answer to the latest question- hope he will

That is actually a good thing about COVID, lets blame COVID and forgett this??? Can somebody bring Grant back??
I know Grant, I hope he'll be back. This is just the hustle and bustle of this forum. We have had major rows on here and I have been involved usually too. It's not real life and I have made many friends in that real life. I couldn't have had a more fantastic experience than our recent trip to Breganze organised basically through this site. The typed word isn't anywhere near the same as the spoken word sometimes and gets misinterpreted. Life is good  ;)

You really don't understand.
The knowledge is shared.
If you want a triple head fixed, send it to Grant, he'll send it back to you fixed.
He'll even be able to pay his heating bills after that.

Paul
