What caused you to crash and what bike where you on?

Hmm ,where to start .17 years old first bike Honda CB 350 bought it in Parramatta almost made it home, came up behind old furniture truck going slow decided to pass him very wrong move as he was turning right ,remember ducking under the mechanical arm old trucks had before indicators ,wrapped myself around street sign, little damage to me or bike.

Coming round left hand corner on my 750 SS on the old road ,diesoline all over the road went down bike hit two cars I slid head first into cop cars front hub cap . That was a lucky one as a little bit slower or faster would have been run over.

Another adventure on the old road. For all of you non Aussies the old road is err was a stretch of arguably one of the best scratchers roads in N.S.W. 60k speed limit now, sad really was a hoot every time.
I and a few of my mad mates lived about 40 ks from the start at a place called Kariong. We used to hit it 3 maybe 4 times a weekend .So one winters morning there were 2 900 SS'S 1 600 Pantah 1 80 Jota 1 81 Jota and my 750 SS .... Viva ORSS .....The road was fairly damp so we cruised down to Cowan stopped for a smoke to wait for the road to dry out a bit .As we were waiting a group of about 20 or 30 bikes went past . Now like most of us blokes we get a bit itchy so like to scratch a bit so we off after them caught them, they didn't want to play so we kept going at a pretty fair pace, I've got the lead and am hooking into this left hander and down I go ,Sliding on my arse and elbow watching my lovely Duk destroy it self. 10 minutes later the twenty or thirty turn up and stop. My mate spots a Jota in the crowd and goes over to have a chat to the bloke . Is that your Lav mate? OOOHH heavens no iits my boyfriends .Turns out it was a gay motorcycle club and here am I walking around with my bare arse hanging out of my jeans . So I guess that really was a lucky escape.

The worst one was when I was going to see my girlfriend some years ago on my RGS up at Mt Tamburine. I had a good fang on the twisties and was just cruising thinking about what miss tamburine had planned for me when I got there. I was going down an off camber left hander at about 70 ks when the bike just stepped out into the oncoming lane ,[ still haven't worked out why] where unfortunately there was this Holden Commodore and BANG center punched the bastard I did. I saw the sky and the earth three times, landed flat on my back ,that was a good landing. broke both legs and wrists, destroyed one Commodore and fucked one RGS.

Have had a couple a minor ones since ,but lesson learnt make sure your bike is fully insured just in case .

All in all not a bad result as I just turned 71 and still scaring myself on my RG on a regular basis

After the big one rebuilt......... and also my 750 SS no longer original but I liked it

Hey Levo, did you get your rims sorted?
Hey Rob .Yea Dave Kellet is a magician dropped in on the way home and he fixed the front wheel perfect .Looked down at front axel no vibration at all. Had spare back wheel at home, so fitted that and so all is good...........PS hope you are feeling well now.

Well I'm impressed, thought that front wheel was fucked then more fucked after taking to it wit a hammer. Did it get you home without having to top up the air? They were big pot holes for sure.

Hey Rob ,Rear a bit dodgy kept losing air, front is as normal . Bike vibrated pretty bad when I left you guys was best at 130 ks under not nice at all ,better after Dave did his magic. Had to go right over bike and retighten a few bolts and replaced front and rear tyres just to be sure safe but bike is now in fine fettle and ready to attack a few more pot holes.

I guess it's a bit like granddad's axe. How much of the original bike is still left?
What's the tyre count now Levo?
G'day Cam, yea I do call it grandpars axe or the axe for short. Let see frame ,swing arm ,most of the engine and side covers, still matching no's though 1983 cool seeing it's an 83 RGS and that's about it. As for tyres I stopped counting at 107 and that was about seven years ago so haven't got a clue now., but hey still looks almost as good as when I got it over 20 years ago, but maybe a bit quicker, although I am definitely a lot slower now and I wasn't that quick before. It's been a great journey and still diggen it.

First one I remember was on my first bike, a Suzuki gp100, overtaking a slow lorry going up a hill and he decided to turn right. I hit his cab window, I looked in at him as my face hit it but he didn’t see me and continued to turn right. He carried on and his back wheel pushed my bike up onto me as he drove on. He looked in his mirror up the road and seen me laying on the road pushing the bike off myself so he stopped and came back. Only damage was bent handlebars so I started the bike up and rode into work (apprentice fitter) where I fixed the bars and refitted them ready for my journey home 😂.

Next crash I had was on the same Suzuki gp100 going through country lanes when I arrived around the first of a series of corners to find the road absolutely covered in runny cow sh*t. As everyone knows this is quite slippy and sent me heading towards a hedge bank which I managed to negotiate and bounced along the side of the road keeping the bike upright until I finally lost it and landed about twelve inches after where all the cowsh*t ended. To this day I am not sure if I was lucky or not 🤷‍♂️😊.

The only crash that has given me an injury was on some back roads where heading towards a corner I shut off and the front end just washed away, I stepped my foot down and luckily the bike came back upright (I wasn’t going very fast). Unluckily it had put me completely off line and I hit a stone wall bridge, the bridge didn’t move. I was absolutely gutted looking at my recently rebuilt bike laying in the road as I sat next to it. I got up and went to pick the bike up but something didn’t feel right with my right shoulder so I put my left hand inside my jacket to feel and there was a big gap where my shoulder should be and bones sticking out at strange angles. Oddly enough very little pain. Next was a 6 inch scar over my shoulder for the rebuild and screw together job and 5 and a half months off work. The physio / surgeon told me that the technical term for what my shoulder looked like was ‘a fucking mess’ 😂. All pretty good now 10 years later.

We were on a roof of the local Mercedes dealership and heard the bang, a Harley travelling at speed in peak hour traffic had gone through an intersection in the gutter lane and had T-boned a car that had crossed directly in front of the bike. The boss grabbed the First Aid box and we ran down. The bike had made a big peak in the car roof and that's where the rider had hit. He was bleeding out from that wound, there was a big puddle and took a long time for the ambulance to arrive. We did the best we could to stop the bleeding but that didn't happen. We heard later he didn't make it. I hate riding in traffic and that's why.

My worse accident was somewhat similar. Dec 23 a little before 8 am I was driving through a small town at the posted 25 MPH speed limit. I was in a residential area and coming to an intersection where the cross street was suppose to stop. But a white van blew through the Stop sign and crossed my path. I hit my horn and the side of the van, next I was looking up at the sky. Some woman that lived near the intersection came out and sat next to me while the emergency staff arrived.
I had a broken and dislocated left shoulder, ball was impacted on to the edge of the socket. I was very fully ATGATT. I asked the EMT to not cut my electric vest, which they didn't. I had zero visible wounds, cuts, scrapes or bleeding. I was holding my left arm across my abdomen.
The van driver was a licensed MC rider, I guess he was late for work............. (I totaled his van) (y) and my 1987 BMW K75S
My mother was an RN that worked at the hospital and knew many staff.
Into ER (A&E) had Xrays, arm put in a sling and given pain killers, sent home. Went to Mom's house instead.
One week of not being able to sleep.
Mom takes me back into hospital more Xrays and more comprehensive this time. 4pm Xrays were done, walking in hallway with Xrays in hand.
Mom sees a surgeon and makes him look at my Xrays. He pulls them out of the envelope, then turns his head to me and asks "When did you eat last?" I had just had a can of Coke, that was all I had that day. Next morning I had surgery- Closed reduction. My surgeon had a fantastic name for an Ortho Doc, Dr. Dangles.
