What did you do to or for or with your Laverda today?

You are chasing your tail.
Sooty plugs WILL happen due to the modern fuel formulations.
Going to 62.5 pilots will only take the carbs out of their optimal performance delivery slot.
All to chase less sooty plugs.
I just don't understand this obsession with sootless plugs.
My bike runs Mikunis and modern ignition system and the plugs soot up.
I don't have any low speed running issues, and I get 45mpg on a steady run.
I don't feel the need to chase smaller jets to make my bike run less sooty.

Hi Jacques I think your dream of having clean spark plugs maybe hard to achieve if at all.
Your pilot jets are still quite large in my opinion, regardless of sooty plugs try heading to 60s or 58s and see if it needs much choke after the engine is started, or if it hesitates off idle once warm. Accellerator pumps wont help either!!!!

RGS and derivatives and 1200s use 65s as standard, 1000 180s use 55s as standard.

I get you points gentlemen, but I am talking small variances, or small increments.
I'll try out the 62,5 now and report back. Going to be interesting to see if there's any difference in Black powder or in engine power.
Kind regards,
jacques

And ultimately futile.
You're not listening, so good luck with it.

I Love my clean burning 81 Jota with a sasche ignition and stock Dells  ;)
No sooting plugs.... just light tan color, been running same plugs for last 5 yrs  8) boodifull.

Keep playin with ya jets Jaq.....
Otherwise ya might find yourself doing some housework

couldn't agree more Maurice, "But SFC1000s not for me" I had one (an SFC1000) for long term safe keeping a few years ago which I had bought for Norwegians friends, they allowed me to take it to Paris, France for an Amicale weekend and I finished up not wanting one, felt very like an RGS that had amateur fitment of aftermarket accessories, which in reality it is except that the "amateur" needed replacing with the word professional. At night there was more light coming at me from inside the fairing than was getting to the road ahead,  and the instrumentation????? speedo was so far out that warp factor 7 was achievable in town! Corsa???? now that is a very different bike and what an SFC is underneath!
CLEM

Unfortunately one of the brand new 62 pilot jets I just bought from Stein-Dinse is a size 82  :-X
So will have to order some more. Testing is now postponed

Kind regards,
jacques

Getting used to the sit up and beg style of the AE (GT bars) so thought it might look ok with a plain screen on. Found a cheapie universal fit one from Hong Kong for 50 bucks so thought worth a go. Fitted it, doesn't cause any problems with handling etc, doesn't buffet my head and provides a bit of protection - good for tucking in behind for a high speed run  :o (or more likely getting some protection from cane trash when passing a haul out ;) Anyway easily taken off, but I think it looks ok.
Speaking of high speed runs, I presume the 29mm carbies are a bit restrictive on these bikes??
