What did you do to or for or with your Laverda today?

Did a few little jobs on the Guzzi LM1 tractor.  What has that got to do with Laverda?  Well, now that the Guzzi is sorted and rideable (although there's still a wish list for that bike), I can get it off the bike lift and wheel a mate's Jota up onto the lift for a bit of fettling.  He has a list of things that need doing so I'll make a start on it tomorrow.

Why did I spend the best part of 40 years working on bikes without a bike lift table? I'm not a masochist so I can only put it down to stupidity.

I hear you Cam,
Only problem is you need more than 1 bike lift  :D
That is unless you are so organised you can get them on and off quick smart.

Cheers

Got the lusty new 120 triple cooling off in the parking lot of a nice Austrian hotel as we speak...  Gradually ticking itself cool after a spirited run through the m?lviertel.  What could be better?

:)
... lusty new 120 triple with two or four wheels?😉
Ciao, Gert

Just got myself an extra set of ignition coils from an RGS, so 3 white denso coils, bracket etc. for the SFC, so measured them to be good, cleaned them up, sanded the bracket and added new stainless unbrakobolts and locking nuts, new spark plug caps and new quality high voltage leads. Actually real easy to change by removing the epoxy, undo the cables and epoxy in new cables.

Kind regards,
jacques

Bit of a sad day for me.....the riding season here is all but over, and the Laverda is starting an early hibernation.  Coldest Sept in history or something like that and rain, rain rain....very uncharacteristic for Sept on the Canadian Prairies. I have to give myself a grade of "D" for spending time with the Corsa  this  riding season. I did finish the restoration in the spring but then got too busy moving houses and building a new garage/shop to ride it. Construction of the new shop is getting close to finished, installed the boiler system for the heated floor (you Aussies have no idea what I am talking about do you) and now working on the siding, trying to beat winter. After that will spend some time inside getting the new shop organized. I have away too much crap but at least the Corsa will be warm this winter!

Since the sump plug couldn't sit tight any more, I cut the new thread 1mm bigger to 15mm * 1,5 and fitted a new sump plug (thanks to Lothar!), and it Works fine.

Kind regards,
jacques

Had a quiet afternoon so new wiring sub-looms fitted to the tacho and speedo. Thanks Grant for the link to the Japanese supplier. They rubber boots were a perfect snug fit, just needed to change the connectors. Also they were great to deal with and very speedy with the post.

It must be the season for it. Another quiet arvo and more wiring, this time a new sub-loom for the horns. Also fitted the new calipers, carefully cleaned the original twin bleed threaded mount calipers and put them in the safe. Other matters have delayed my re-rebuild but recent news has given me renewed enthusiasm and the time to use it. Hopefully back on the road before this summer get too stinking hot.

Is "sub-loom" a fancy name for a piece of wire?

I did a horn relay installation on someone's bike the other day, it required a couple of bits of wire from my stock. Perhaps if I'd written relay and sub-loom on the invoice I could have charged twice as much.  :D

No, it's a sub-loom.
A separate smaller loom in it's own right.
A different entity in it's own way.
Not supplied when you buy a new loom, such as horn or coils wiring.

Common term over here, like my 3C horns, not much I grant you, but denotes a separate section of wiring in it"s own right as grant says.

Ciao, Gert

Sadly, it was a Dacia Logan....  (puke)
Actually, a lot less bad than I expected.  It took us around, gave us some laughs and was named "white lightning"... the irony heavy.
I wouldn't use THAT rental company again though, it was meant to be an Opel Astra.  "Equivalent"??  Yeah...nah.
