When is a pizza not a pizza

Well if we're talking Pies and riding I am partial to the Lamb Pies at The Pie in the Sky after a run-up The Old Rd which starts right there.

Had first pizza in '73 from Pinocchio's, Darlinghurst (Kings Cross) Sydney. Been hooked ever since. Just basic proper wood fired using San Marzano tomatoes and Bufalo mozzarella. Bit of last-minute fresh picked basil. After decades of loading with all manner of 'toppings', I concluded the 'action' often disappears where the sauce fuses near the perimeter. Is that Mayard?

Can't even get a potato (& meat) pie on this side of the pacific. Most all meat pies in Sydney were awesome. Even the school canteen ones were great. I'm reminded of late-night pie and peas from Harry's Cafe de wheels. the first food truck (trailer) I had seen. Wife has attempted to replicate with varying degrees of success. Recipe must be a national secret!
 
Pie and peas was a secret to me, I had never heard of it till I was at least 40 so not that famous to this lifelong Sydney resident.

Mainly a South Australian thing, the good old "Pie Cart" outside the Adelaide Train station, spent many a Saturday night in the 70's & 80's there after the clubs closed and we would have a "Floater" to take care of the munchies.:p

But it has to be a Vili's pie, on moving to Adelaide I did the 'Pepsi' taste test between Vili's and Balfour's pies. the Vili's one came out on top, bit strange that as a floater pie should be upside-down.

I went to a truckers cafe in London on a sunday after leaving the church ( kiwis and aussies will know what this is if they are my age or had kids my age) the knives and forks were chained to the tables and the waitress came around with a bucket of soapy water to dip them in and clean them. Best all day english breakfast I ever had , sobered us up somewhat too

Nothing worse than that IMHO! and let's not talk about coffee atrocities committed
in hipster hang outs...
 
Just had a bloody fantastic Hawaiian with anchovies and chilli simply amazing… thin crust and all….
hmm now to have me an Affogato and but of course will be using Illy as anything else is not worth the effort IMHO yum
