Wolfgangs location

Wolfgang has to be at least 83 - Give him a break.

Been to Nakusp B.C. Canada on HWY 6 (Absolutely beautiful small town in the Canadian Rockies) driving a modified 72 340 Magnum Dodge RS Challenger, and dropped into his shop back in 72 and personally met Wolfgang and Margo. In 72 I would be 24 and Wolfgang had to be al least 10 years older then me. I will be 73 in June.

If it were not for his shop Vs my 70 750SF would have surely died.

Pistons, Rings, Gaskets and Seals... etc

Surprising I could even spell "Nakusp"

-----------------

Every Province in Canada has a the 1st North South HWY 6 but by to days standard a Secondary 2 lane winding HWY.

Perhaps, I met his Father and you are confusing Wolfgang to his Son.

The Mystery continues.

One thing I am certain of is that Wolfgang's favorite ride was a 69 Breganzie Laverda 750S.

You are taxing my Memory.

No doubt the Original Shop in Naksup B.C. Canada catering for Breganzie Enthusiasts still exists.

From what I understand Wolfgang's Son shattered his leg in a Motorcycle incident some 20 years ago while touring southern Alberta riding a Breganzie 750.

The Logo "Wolfgang" has become somewhat God like for the Breganzie Enthusiast.

I know what I encountered back in 1972 !

HI Ron, and all

no Wolfgang or any of his family in Nakusp any time in the 1970's, or 1980's etc........ I have been to various of Wolfgang's birthday parties over the years, I am about to turn 67 myself, Wolfgang turned 67 a bit before me.

Wolfgang's son Chris lost a leg not far outside of Calgary several years ago when a truck carrying scrap metal coming the other way lost part of its load and a several hundred pound metal fork lift arm fell off the truck and bounced off the road into Chris's Laverda 750, and basically cut the bike in half. I was the one who later retrieved the remains of the bike from the police impound and trailered it from Calgary back to Nakusp for Chris and Wolfgang. The important parts of that bike were used to subsequently resurrect it and Chris rides it regularly, artificial leg and all.

Chris and his dad and others had been riding into Calgary from British Colombia on the Alberta secondary highway, the 1A, which is a nice relatively twisty and interesting road between Canmore and Calgary, much nicer riding than the straight and boring Trans Canada highway. I have not ridden that secondary highway, the 1A, myself since Chris's "accident". I just can't. The truck and truck driver were never caught, just kept on going.......

At the time a number of members of this forum generously contributed to a several thousand dollar fund for Chris which I was privileged to present to Chris on behalf of the forum members at Wolfgang's about a year after the accident.

Wolfgang is in Germany dealing with family matters and incidentally having to deal with a bunch of his Laverda parts stock that has been stored at his mom's house but now has to be cleared out. Makes sense to sell what he can directly from Germany rather than have to ship it all back to Canada.... No idea when he expects to return to Canada, and with CoVid19 travel and border restrictions continuing to tighten, who knows. Currently British Columbia is even restricting local travel within its own provincial border.

About time you chimed in Paul - Basically your home country just West of you: As for me - What was that Bregranzie Bike Shop in Naksup B.C. back in 72 - I was not dreaming !

They did advertise a Breganzie Shop using Media Fire back in the 90's during the Win95 days - Let met find the Link - Hold On ;o)

If his shop is not located in Naksup B.C.: Where is his shop located now ?

I bought parts for my 70 Breganzie 750 SF from Wolfgang from the mid 70's to the 90's using his MediaFire.Com address and it was addressed to Naksup B.C.

Hi Ron

interesting. I don't know when Wolfgang and family moved to Nakusp and did not have any Laverda parts dealings with him or anyone else before 1999. Maybe someone else knows when Wolfgang moved to Nakusp?

I could not afford a Laverda in the 70's or 80's. Did two University degrees while raising a very young family at the time. I am comparatively late to Laverda ownership having bought my first Laverda triple in 1999, although I was interested in them well before. I got interested in them when a friend bought a brand new 1979 Laverda 1200 here in Calgary in 1979 and let me ride it once in a while. I was riding a 1978 Kawasaki 1000 Z1R at the time, and lusting after a turbo charged Z1R that I could not afford. Riding the 1979 Laverda 1200 was an eye opener in the late 70's the thing actually handled fairly well, particularly as compared to my 1978 Kawasaki 1000 Z1R which seemed like it had a hinge in the middle of the frame as it shimmied and swayed around the corners. Then in 1982 my friend traded his 1200 Laverda in on a brand new 1982 Benelli 900 SEI, which he also let me ride once in a while. I then bought the Benelli 900 SEI from him in 1985 and kept it for 14 years.

The cycle came full circle when I sold the Benelli 900 SEI in 1999 and used the proceeds to buy....... a 1979 Laverda 1200 Mirage in 1999, which led to the creation of what has become Laverda Forum.... I still have the 1979 Laverda 1200 Mirage I bought in 1999, now fully kitted in Boba's carbon fiber bodywork and many other mods.

Paul: Why don't YOU just go and investigate the Wolfgang Naksup MYSTERY this summer, something like 600 miles West of you - Sure you will enjoy the scenery on your latest Ride.

From my experience Wolfgang has to be at least 80 years old and who's running the Business and from Where ?

I will be 73 in June.

Can't say Wolfang's Business doesn't run a fair Breganzie parts Co today, as I have not used him lately and nor have I ordered parts from any other Motorcycle Business, as I quit riding 3 years ago ;o(

Please don't ask me how much I miss it - REALLY - It was for my better Heath, realizing, I'm not as young as I use to be.

Surviving some 45 years of riding Motorcycles, Mostly on my 70 750SF (Believe me she isn't the safest ride). She would sooner fall over on her side and go sleep when parked and throw you off at any speed - Kinda a Love/Hate relationship that lasted not without a few broken bones and hospital time - The thing was if you paid her attention - She NEVER lost a race ;o)

Such an easy motorcycle to work on. Resurface the Valves, Lap them (a little porting), New Springs, Hone the Cylinders and Gap new rings, change a few gaskets and seals an then BANG your off to the races with an 8000rpm twin. Admit I did take a file to the Cam Lobes and followers - All on your Wife's kitchen table - When the Kids started showing up, I had to quit riding for some 18 years and then she left me a few years ago. She died last November and I truly miss her - Cost me my life's work and my children's heritage that Woman - Lawyers and Realistate took it all for a 50K mortgage and property worth 1/2 a million. The thing was we could have had that Mortgage paid off at the time of her death. Today, she still haunts me in my dreams not knowing to love her or kill her after robbing our children's heritage ;o(

Hi Ron

yes, Nakusp is relatively close to Calgary, roughly 6 -8 hours and after you get to the mountains west of Calgary a very nice ride. I have done it dozens of times over the years. No travel last summer during CoVid. Optimistically perhaps, but a number of us from Alberta and British Columbia known to each other through the Laverda world have booked accommodation in that general area of southern B.C. for varying parts of three weeks in August this summer for a bunch of riding some of the best roads on the planet. I am hoping to be in the general area with my spouse for the full three weeks, with one Laverda triple and one "modern" bike. We'll see if CoVid lockdowns and restrictions ease enough by early August 2021 to allow that to happen. Wolfgang is expected to join us if CoVid permits, he has been doing much more actual riding the past couple of summers as he eases toward at least partial retirement.
