I think the 2.25 million BEVs in 2025 is just for BYD company. Figure for all Chinese companies is closer to 10-11 million, which is about 70% of global.

Nice thing about renewable resources like Lithium is that they are renewable. There’s loads of Lithium out there, just need to figure out better extraction and processing, and better processing for reuse. Not to mention alternative/new battery technologies coming down the line. I think we’re at the model T stage of BEV development - there have been noises about new battery technologies within the decade that will extend range by multiple factors. And once AI shows us how to build viable fusion reactors and better superconductors, jobs a good’un.

You're right.

Nothing to do with EV`s of course ...... this sort of stuff can be fitted to all sorts ...........

But at 6.30 this morning on the M2 a motorcyclist was killed after being in collision with a Tesla car ........ No information as to whether Tesla`s Autopilot was in use ....... but it was dark ....... and clips like the one below by Fortnine do plant seeds of doubt in your mind .........

Autopilot is supposed to detect if the drivers hands are removed from the steering wheel , sending a nag warning to the " driver" ........ but reports say it can be several minutes before the system realises this and sends out the warning ..........

Musk wants the nag warning removed ..........

Just as long as they don`t end up in landfill .......... Or Dodgy Den`s Used EV`s And Battery Disposal down by the canal ............
The used and damaged batteries we have removed by Our Tesla repair shop initially sit in our back lot for up to 6 months,,,,,then are picked up by some random truck, and are shipped to China, where in some village I’m sure they turn a perfectly lovely green river into a dark red river.

And when AI figures out that it is wasting its efforts on sustaining a very destructive animal that the planet for sure doesn’t need …

...... and again on Tesla , Musk , motorcyclists being killed by Teslas .....( up to three at least in the USA now ) ........ and Tesla drivers in general ............

Sorry for the interruption ...... you can get back to Electric Vehicles and all the wonders they perform now .........

Alcohol kills a lot more motorcyclists than Teslas, and yet it's very widely promoted.

It`s not flying that concerns me .......it`s the crashing ..........

It`s not 60 times less likely to catch fire that concerns me ....... it`s the 20 times harder to put the fire out .......

Info sourced from LDLAS ................... ( Lies , Damned Lies , And Statistics ) ............

It is not the case that EV's all of a suden are in fire and you have no second to get out. That though is more likely on a car that has 80 Kilograms of explosive material carried around...

@breganzane : Steve, I found the study I was refering to with the 60 times:

This is real data from US insurance companies in relation to cars sales, calculated then to per 100.000 Units sold.

Drunk drivers or drunk motorcyclists ?

Presumably the fact that more riders are killed as a result of alcohol ......... means that the riders killed by Tesla`s flawed and mis-represented tech are so statistically insignificant that they don`t really matter ?

Surely just one innocent motorcyclists death is not something anyone would wish for .........

Interesting point mentioned in the Yammie Noob video is that Tesla`s Autopilot will automatically switch off a second before impact ........... so no manslaughter charges as far as the mentally unstable South African is concerned ......

Sleep well Elon .... ! .........

Everybody matters, but in a discussion, some things weigh more than others. 3 motorcyclists killed by automated cars in the USA is nothing compared to all those killed by car drivers under influence, or with fire arms.
So problems must be tackled according to their social consequences.

An automated car is without doubt safer than one driven by a human.

I was wondering...do EV owners spend their weekends working in the garage modifying and tuning their vehicles? Changing chips? Bigger batteries? Installing triple FLUX capacitors!
In my case not. I never touch the car, it just works.
I spend my weekends happily trying to get my collection of Italian and British motorcycles to produce reasonable performance from fossil fuels 😁
