3C prices these days?

I have an agreed valuation from Hagerty for $16,500 USD for insurance purposes. 1974 3c with some modest engine performance enhancements. Original Owner.

I'll give you ?1500 for that 3C you're working on Paul. Nobody wants them anymore.

Haha, by the time I've finished, it'll be worth half that. (Plenty of people want them, old peoples homes, recyclers, museums )
It's about the price I sold my French Market Jota 5 years back. Needing restoration.

Or I'll exchange it against a decent Vincent twin for my holiday touring activities.

What do insurers use as a basis for valuation?

Market prices or the premiums they can ask for?

Paul

The "guaranteed value" from Hagerty has increased over 15 years. It was around a $5000 USD valuation in 2005.

Guaranteed value are the costs and expenses I might expect to incur to replace my Laverda if a total loss.

The Hagerty folks have been very good to work with. I dropped my fuel tank (full of fuel) and gave it a big dent. The insurance adjuster came out and documented the damage, got on the phone with Wolfgang. They paid for the new/used Wolfgang prepped 3C fuel tank, painting expenses and a labor charge. No questions asked.

My annual insurance premium is $290 USD no deductibles, $100K BI and PDL, uninsured motorist and $10k medical payments.

So I doubt Hagerty is just harvesting premiums. Hagerty has a classic motorcycle valuation tool on their website.

I'm soon going to have to get into this agreed value insurance because I need to insure my SFC when I get it back and my newly acquired Falcone.
If I can find an arrangement of some sort with the independent assessor and the insurance company for the other bikes, that would be nice.

At the moment, I'm insured third party and it costs me 145 ? a year including break down recovery. So if I plough into a train carrying 1000 people killing half of them because the train didn't respect a red light, I'm covered. Otherwise, nothing.

One burnt SFC is enough.
I thought "nobody is going to steal that". I never lock any of my bikes, apart from the modern Aprilia. But I never imagined what a fun game it could be to burn a ^pile of opld bikes.

Thanks, I want a ready to ride, no work Vincent.

Paul

I looked at that Vincent. 2 weekends at most with the week in between for the valve job and a quick hone. Maybe 3 if you do a day at the beach.
Although I would do an electric starter for it if you want it to be easy to ride. And you would probably want to get the forks refurbed at the factory. And a Ducati clutch. And a better rear shock. 18 inch wheels for radial tyres? What the hell, a digital ignition and alternator. Modern carburetors or (even better) fuel injection. 5 speed gearbox, natch. Disc brakes? After market crank?
So it might take as much as a couple of months. Then guaranteed to be as reliable as a Honda.
