Although I would do an electric starter for it if you want it to be easy to ride. And you would probably want to get the forks refurbed at the factory. And a Ducati clutch. And a better rear shock. 18 inch wheels for radial tyres? What the hell, a digital ignition and alternator. Modern carburetors or (even better) fuel injection. 5 speed gearbox, natch. Disc brakes? After market crank?
So it might take as much as a couple of months. Then guaranteed to be as reliable as a Honda.

Go the whole hog: swap the Vincent motor into a Darmah frame. Apparently this wasn't an uncommon mod in Aus back in the day...

Yeah, 'cos of all the Vincent engines that flooded the classifieds, had to find a use for them.

I have read about 2 Vincatis over the years, one in Oz and one done by Big Sid in the USA

A mate of mine in Townsville who has 3 vincents (well 2 1/2) originally converted a Darmah in the 80s to get he best of both worlds: the brakes and handling of the Ducati and the relatively better reliability of the Vincent motor. He said they weren't all that unusual back then in Vincent circles and even has another similar project on the go for his spare engine (truth be known the project has been on the go at least 10 yrs with little progress... :)

It's a 3CL, I don't think the 3C ever had the brackets for the rear master cylinder. Oh and it has a seat lock.

Just to add to this thread now that my mate's Vincati seems to be coming together quite well (is now registered for road use in QLD). Still looking around for a suitable seat (sharing one with his other Darmah for now). Might consider a 3C or SF dual seat or even Bonneville/Commando seat if anyone has one?
